It's not Saihara's birthday yet, or even close to it, but I'm impatient and wanted to write this-
Third person POV
Grass tickled Shuichi's nape ad he watched the stars above him with intensity. He liked stargazing with kaito. The cool dark afternoon wind and faded stars eased him, while Kaito's presence comforted him.
Shuichi adverted his gaze towards the luminary and smiled, to his surprise, he got a smile back.
They stood there, eyes locking in a breathtaking way. Shuichi was unsure if he should lean in or wait for kaito to do so. Shuichi sighed happily at the familiar feeling of Kaito's large hands gently running along his hair.
Shuichi closed his eyes peacefully and sighed at the entrancing sensation. He felt as though he could stay like this forever. One of Kaito's hands in the detective's hair and the other intertwined with Shuichi's smaller and frail hand.
If it wasn't for the sudden buzz in his pant pocket, he swore he might have.
"Ah, I'm sorry," the boy mumbled as he felt Kaito's hand detaching from his head. He continued to retrieve his phone and stared at the message on it before smiling and returning it back to his pocket.
"What's up?" Kaito asked, watching the boy rest his head on the grass scooting a bit closer to the other. He caresses the detective's cheek, which made him smile wider.
Shuichi shook his head. "Nothing really," he responded. "My uncle just messaged me something about my birthday. No big deal."
Unlike the peaceful looking boy, kaito was shocked and in immense disbelief. He shot up from his laying position and stared at shuichi, almost hurt.
"What's wrong," shuichi asked, gradually sitting up as well.
"So- so today's your birthday?" Kaito ran his fingers through his hair and exhaled with vigor. "And I didn't even know? Why didn't you tell me shu?"
"Oh!" Shuichi's face was red in embarrassment and quilt. "I, uh, just felt like it wasn't really important. Sorry." He smiled at the luminary sheepishly.
Kaito then enveloped shuichi in a tight hug that left him gasping for air. "Don't say that man! I feel bad now y'know. I have less time to think of something to get you now."
Shuichi sighed in Kaito's embrace before placing a small kiss on his cheek. He smiled at the luminary's stunned expression.
"Spending time with you is more than enough, momota-kun."

Shuichi laid on the couch drowsily as the tv messed with his vision. He was alone at the time. His uncle went to run a quick errand which shuichi assumes he'd be back from soon.
He sighed. It was his birthday, so why wasn't he doing anything more than laying like a slob in front of a tv.
The detective felt the need to sleep and let his eyes close subconsciously. His mind was empty now. It bothered him, and was a bit to adapt to, but he'd be fine.

The familiar ring of the doorbell drove the resting detective out of his slumber as he staggered groggily to the door. His first assumption was that his uncle was at the door, but seeing that his keys were no where in the house, shuichi knew that his uncle could've walked in an out as much as he pleased. Also meaning that there was someone unknown at the door.
Being to tired to reach up to the peephole, shuichi just carefully opened the door, preparing for the worst. However, it seemed to be the best.
Much to his surprise, it was none other than kaito standing on his porch, a large box was held in his hands.
"M-Momota-Kun??" Shuichi said, immediately letting the other in, thinking that the box he carried was heavy.
"What are you doing here?" Shuichi closed the door behind him as kaito let the box rest on the nearest table before turning back to the detective.
"Nice sweater," Kaito said, grinning and completely avoiding the question.
Shuichi's face reddened in embarrassment as he realized that he had impulsively worn the sweater that kaito had left at his place a while ago. It was black with all the planets on it. "Of course it's nice you dummy, it's yours." He smiled and shook his head before realizing how easily caught in a trap he was. "D-don't avoid the question momota-kun! It's pretty late. You should get some rest."
Kaito shook his head before leaving a kiss on the detective's forehead. "Can't a guy bring a cake for his beloved on his birthday?" The luminary pointed to the box behind him. Kaito continued to mess with shuichi's hair. "Where's your old man?"
Shuichi smiled and removed the others hand before intertwining it with his. "He's our running errands. But he'll be home soon." This earned a soft hum from the other.
"You didn't have to bring a cake, you know," shuichi then said.
Kaito walked to the couch, shuichi following behind him, and sat down. " Of course I did!" Kaito boomed, as usual. "Gotta show my sidekick I love him!"
Shuichi shook his head with a smile. Kaito refused to let go of the sidekick nickname he gave shuichi back when they first met, which was fine with the detective.
"Thank you, momota-kun. I just didn't want you spending any money on me. There's no need." Shuichi shrugged. "I already said spending time with you was more than enough for me."
"S'okay shuichi. Anything for you, man."
They spent the rest of that night eating some of the cake kaito had brought and laughing over old scary movies, shuichi more than kaito. The detective sighed happily as he was held tightly in his boyfriend's arms. Ok so maybe he wouldn't spend his birthday alone and laying in front of a tv like a slob. He'd be with his overly confident and yet very idiotic boyfriend as well.
I'm bored :-D
