Saimota week day 3: pressure/ sidekick: both!!!👬😞🙇♂️
Third person POV
There was another murder. Another trial. And another one of their friends executed.
By now, shuichi couldn't take it. The idea of having to go through another class trial, a battle for their lives against a friend, made him want to cry. The thought of being killed by one of his friends, or roped up in a murder, made him sick to his stomach.
Kaito must've noticed shuichi's distressed expression and offered to walk him to his dorm, much to the detective's joy.
Shuichi didn't like crying. Especially not in front of people. Whenever he cried his head would suddenly hurt a tremendous amount. After some research, he found out that it meant he was dealing with large amounts of stress. He sighed. It surely wasn't wrong.
However, once shuichi and kaito entered the detective's room and the door was close behind them, shuichi burst into tears, much to the luminary's surprise.
He couldn't take it anymore and at this point, shuichi could care less. He could care less if his head was going to hurt again, or if he was crying in front of kaito. Shuichi was tired, and desperately needed to express himself.
"H-hey!" Kaito exclaimed, rushing over and kneeling in front of the detective. "What's wrong shu?!" His loud voice rang in shuichi's ears and made his headache worsen. It honestly just made him cry more.
Large, warm pools of tears streamed down the detective's now beet red face and damped his lap, no mater how many times kaito attempted to wipe them away.
"Hey," Kaito embraced shuichi gently and held him comfortingly in his large arms. "Shh," he cooed, hoping the calm the boy down as he rubbed shapes on his back. "Talk to me shuichi."
After a couple more seconds of crying, shuichi managed to find his voice and spoke to the luminary who held him.
"I," He started. "I can't.. I can't do this anymore," a pause. Silence. "Momota-kun."
Tears welled up in his eyes once more. "Everyone's counting on me to get them out of here but," more tears ran down his face and his gripped tightly on Kaito's shoulders. "I don't..know what to do." His voice cracked. Shuichi looked at the luminary. "There's just..just too much pressure on me." He cries.
Kaito continued to draw on the detective's back. "I know. Having to lose a friend here, it's hard. I know how you feel. And these class trial." He sighed. "That's what's getting you down right. It's ok."
"No!" Shuichi exclaimed, covering his mouth a bit at his sudden volume. It shocked kaito too, enough to make him stiffen and sit up straight. "It's not just the class trials momota-kun,"he whimpered. "I just, I can't be relied on like this!"
A sudden pang of guilt struck the luminary as he realized what he meant.
"Everyone's counting on me to do a good job on these trials, to be their guide. But, I can't always do it. I'm scared too." Shuichi was hesitant as he spoke. He didn't want kaito to hear him like this, but was desperate to be heard.
Kaito sighed. Shuichi was right. Extremely right! And it hurt that this is how it made shuichi feel. Everyone always told shuichi how he was going to get them out of here, and figure out the trials on his own. Everyone placed they're trust on shuichi and always made him take the lead. Even kaito. Who probably over worked him the most. Telling him to finish the trial off when he provided nothing to the trial himself. Kaito was furious. Not only at his classmates. But mostly at himself. At how he was hurting shuichi.
Kaito's hug tightened around the boy, causing the detective to gasp slightly. Kaito then let go of him, and rested his forehead on shuichi's carpeted floor.
"W-What are you doing momota-kun?" Shuichi said through drowsy sobs.
"Please forgive me, shuichi!" The luminary cried. "I've failed you as your hero! Please forgive me!" Kaito wore and aggravated expression and was glad shuichi couldn't see it.
Kaito remained in his crouched spot on the floor until he felt a soft hand on his head. Shuichi knelt in front of the crouched kaito with a gentle hand on his head. Before he could say anything however, kaito gave shuichi a wind knocking hug and a promise.
"I'll get you out of here, shuichi," Kaito whispered. "You won't have to do anymore class trials and you won't have to worry about anything." Shuichi hesitantly wrapped his hands around Kaito's shoulders and accepted his warm embrace.
