Chapter 53

When I returned home, Jensen was waiting for me in the living room. "Welcome back" he says and kisses me.
"Can we talk?" I ask trying not to cry
"Is everything ok?" he asks worried
"Yeah" I say nodding my head.

We sit on the couch and I take a deep breath "This is something that I'm thinking for a while now. You know that I love my work, right?" I ask
"I do" he says and I nod
"I've been back to work only... what? A month now? But I think that I should stop"
"What?"
"Jensen, I love working and I love doing the work I do but I also love my family. And that thing we do right now, dropping Jack to my mom's and then getting him back when we are done, it isn't working. Jack is only with us during nighttime and when one of us have the day off. I mean we already lost his first steps because he took them with grandma and I don't want to lose his firsts. And honestly, I don't really like him traveling back and forth from Vancouver to Austin and getting on a plane every week" I say and I wipe my tears. "I thought I could manage family and career, all at once but I can't. So I choose our family and I choose to take care of it. Be the wife you deserve and the mother that Jack deserves" I say.

Jensen hugs me and rubs my back "I get it" he says "But don't ever think that you are not good enough for me, ok? You are perfect to me and I know that you are doing everything you can to take care of our family" he says and I nod
"I love you" I say
"I love you too" he says and kisses my head without pulling away.

"Trust me, it wasn't an easy decision to take but it's what it needs to be done" I say
"I know, don't worry. When are you thinking on leaving?" he asks
"Probably the end of the season because I've already signed for this year"
"Ok" he says and kisses me.

"That's what you needed to talk to Alex to?" he asks
"No, this was something that we discussed at the end to get me in the mood to talk to you"
"Ok. By the way, I did something today and please don't get mad at me" he says
"What did you do?"
"I saw Kate today"
"What? Here? What is she doing here?"
"She told me that she and her husband leave in Austin but they travel in Vancouver to see their parents. And I might have invited them for dinner this weekend that we will be in Austin"
"You what?"
"I couldn't stop it, I don't know--" he says but I interrupt him
"I need to call Alex" I say.

I get up from the couch and I lock myself in the room. I call Alex
"Hey, how did it go?" he asks
"Good. But something else came up"
"What?"
"It seems like Jensen invited Kate for dinner next week. He said that he couldn't avoid it which means that she still has the influence she used to on people and I'm scared Alex"
"Remember what we said, healthy jealously right?"
"Yeah, we said that when I thought that I wouldn't see her again. But know she's coming and I don't know how to handle her" I say.

"Remember what you say to me when I can't stop laughing while filming?" he asks
"What?"
"Be strong. Rock. Only this way you can have a chance of doing at least one take, right?"
"Yeah"
"So do your best to show her your best take and version. That way she'll notice how much better you are, because I'm sure that you are" he says and I chuckle
"Thank you"
"Anytime. And be sure to text me after and let me know how it went"
"I will. Goodnight"
"Goodnight" he says and hangs up.
