CHAPTER 6

What should've been a memorable day for me turn out to be a complete horror when I entered the room after Maria.

"Mr. Frost, This is Maya Campbell. Your new assistant."

Time stopped as he slowly lifted this steel gray eyes. The same eyes that captivated me last night. The same eyes the bought intense horror into me this very morning. Blood drain from my face as I saw him still when he finally looked at me. The guy I picked up last night. The guy who captivated me with just one glance. The guy who sat with me for hours watching reruns of my favorite shows and eating pizza. The guy who laughed and teased me.The guy whom I had fallen asleep with last night. And The guy who terrified me just this morning stood right in front of me. Jacob or should I called him Elijah Frost looked at me with a blank face but I could see his eyes piqued with curiosity.Oblivious to the tension in the room, Maria continued introducing me to him and vise versa."Maya here was really the only candidate who could answer any question without any hesitation an....." Maria said with a huge smile, but I don't think he registered anything she said and neither did I, as those once shocked eyes turned emotionless staring into my soul. I held my hand behind my back and clasped them, wanting to hide the tremble and averted my eyes from him.

"I will leave you two to get acquainted with each other." She said after a few minutes, winked towards him and left the room. Leaving me alone with him. I couldn't help but frown at their friendliness. Maybe he's like this with everyone.

Wanting to not remember or discuss anything that happened today, I straightened my shoulders and walked forward showing false power but power nonetheless. Standing right in front of his desk I held my hand out for a shake, hoping to hide the subtle but yet there tremble. "Hello Mr. Frost. It's a pleasure to meet you." I said as politely as I could. Why did he lied about his name? What possibly could he think he could I would do?

Standing up from his seat he reached out taking my small hand in his warm, big All-engulfing ones. I shake it trying to hold his gaze. As he squeezes me in his tight grip I couldn't help but shiver that went down my body but I concealed any emotion that could show he affected me in any way. I wanted this job far more than I needed anything. And after what happened today. Men were out of the question for me.

"Same here, Miss Campbell. Please have a seat. I hope you're doing well?" He lifted his eyebrows, as if to challenge me. Heat crawls up my neck and cheeks. Even after this morning, I can't stop the effect his single glance can have on me.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking." Taking my hand from his I sat in front of his desk not knowing what to do under his intense eyes. I could see he wanted to know everything but it would take a lot more than being scrutinized under those eyes to spill my secrets.

He sat down, interlocking his fingers on his desk pining me with a blank look but his eyes asked a million questions. How did I not recognize him last night. Was i really that drunk? I tried to look as professional as possible but this morning was still too raw and the person who was unintentionally the cause of it was right in front of me and he was none other than my boss. For a second, I considered fleeing but dismissed the idea immediately. What could that possibly do but ruin my chances for the future.

"I wasnt available when the interviews were held. Thats why Maria had to conduct them." He started "But I'm kind of glad. As you very well know you happen to be my first assistant ever. Maria happened to think I need to let someone help me with my day to day activities. And according to your academics. I'm glad it was you" He said with a blank voice that clearly said he wasnt that glad.
