Christen's pov
We were on our way to practice and the silence was so heavy on all of us. Everything is usually so light between the group, but now it was like a bomb was about to explode. That wasn't the energy we needed to win this. I didn't want to make things worse so I didn't dare to say anything.

Training today was awful. It's not that we played badly, no, we might have played better than ever actually. The problem was that there wasn't a single smile on the field. The team is known for the fun we have while playing. Right now, nothing could indicate that we've ever been this team. Everyone had their eyes on Ashlyn and Tobin in case they decide to have another confrontation. Fortunately, they didn't.

I felt like all of this was my fault. If Tobin wasn't so hostile towards Daniëlle, none of that would've ever happened. And I'm the one who brought her up. I'm not saying that I regret being with Daan because it is not the case and it will never be. I just think all of this could've been avoided.

"I know what you're thinking about right now and you have to stop it" Carli's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. "What?" I didn't really know what she meant. "You think all of this is your fault, but it isnt. I'm not the one to get involved in conflicts or to pick sides, but you did nothing wrong. Tobin is the one in the wrong. So stop beating yourself up and focus Press. We need you to have your head in the game, kid" Carli told me before leaving to get some water. She was right, I needed to focus right now.

So that's what I did. I got in my own bubble and it's what was I needed. I got through the whole training and I was ready for more, but I know I can't push my body too much. When I couldn't focus on soccer anymore, all the problems came back. All I wanted was to be with Daniëlle, but I couldn't because she had a game the next day. It didn't stop her from calling me, though.

"Hi" she said when her face appeared on my phone. "Hi" I told her. "Wait what's wrong?" She asked me. How did she know? "It's been shit since you left" I sighed. "How come?" She questioned me. I proceeded to explain the whole situation that happened since the moment she left and I could see on her face that she was extremely surprised.

"I can't believe she dared to touch Ali" Daan was still shocked by the news. "You have to do something about her rather sooner than later" She told me. "Why me?" I questioned her. "Isn't she like your best friend?" Daan asked. "She is" I nodded. "So she wouldn't listen to anyone more than you" She explained and I had to agree. "I will. Just not right now. I don't want to make things worse than they already are" I said and I knew she would understand. Like she could read my mind, she decided to change the subject.

She went on and told me all the things that happened during the previous days. Her team was pretty confident about their match against Canada the next day. "Also, I have good news" she started and I could tell she was excited. "I've talked to the staff and if you want, you'll be able to sit in the 'family section'. Some of my teammates with Arsenal that are with different national teams will be there along with family members of cours. I'm not forcing you to do anything but I wanted to let you know that it's possible" she told me and I could feel she was nervous telling me this. "I definitely want to. I'll talk to the coach tomorrow to ask him if it's okay, but on my end it's an absolute yes" I replied and the smile on her face showed that she was pretty sure I was going to shut her offer down.

It wasn't so late so while I was still on the call with her, I texted Vlatko to explain the situation to him. 'You know this is one of the biggest even in the world of soccer. You also know that all eyes are on us. Every move we make is thoroughly inspected. But what I know is that these moments are meant to be shared with people we love. I know it's hard for you to be here without your mother so it's fine with me that you go with her. The only important thing is that you're back at the hotel on game day. Which means you can spend the whole next day with her if you want. Good night now' Vlatko responded to my text. "What's happening?" Daniëlle asked when she saw I was smiling. I then read the whole text to her and I wasn't the only one grinning like an idiot. "Now I'm so excited!" Daan said and I was too. The only thing I had to do next was tell the girls about it to make sure it's okay with them.
