Colors

The world was gray to Jungkook—and that's no metaphor. Every day when he wakes up, all he sees is varying shades of gray. It makes his world dark, and bleak, and sometimes depressing.

However, the world is fair, and whoever's controlling it grants him one other color per day.

Some days it's purple, other days it's red. One day he'll get various shades of the same color—such as being able to see baby blue and navy on the same day. Other times he'll only get to see one shade, like magenta, for example.

It's like this for everyone in the world—well, until they find their soulmate, that is. He's been told multiple times by many different people that once you see your soulmate for the first time, even if it's just a mindless, microsecond glance, your entire world lights up into a beautiful world of vibrant color.

Unfortunately for Jungkook, that hasn't happened yet. So he's forced to live in a world void of color.

He used to wake up not knowing what color the day allowed him to see, and sometimes he'd go to bed not once seeing the color. However, he recently created a color wheel, with the help of his friends who have already found their soulmates, filled with every color on the spectrum to help him figure it out. Sometimes a whole chunk of it would be lit up, sometimes you could barely see the sliver of color.

Despite living in this drab world, Jungkook actually wasn't too concerned about finding his soulmate. He just lived life as it came. In fact, if he was told he had to live his whole life in this world of gray, he'd merely shrug and say, "If that's how my life is supposed to go, I guess that's how it'll be." That's not to say he didn't want to find his soulmate, of course. It's just that...he's built up a wall of sorts. If he forced himself to not care about things he wanted, nothing could hurt him.

Today, glancing up at the color wheel, he saw the color green, all types of green. Jungkook loved green. It was so hopeful, so full of life. Today was going to be a good day—he could feel it.

Thursdays were the days of the week Jungkook goes out to get groceries for his mom. She was pretty young, all things considered, in her late forties, but she had become paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident not long after Jungkook was born. She was able to get groceries herself, but it was so much easier if Jungkook did it, and he was happy to help.

Today, he decided to walk, he just felt like it. His mom's grocery list wasn't long, and the weather was nice. He was in slightly higher spirits than usual, but there was nothing really special about this particular Thursday.

That is, until he heard a gasp.

Everything happened so quickly after that. There was a flash...but it seemed like only Jungkook saw it. And then, before he could comprehend any of what had happened, he was wrapped up into a tight hug. He looked down to question this stranger why he was embracing him but he stopped.

Because the man holding him was beautiful.

The shorter man smiled up at him. "Like what you see, soulmate?"

Jungkook automatically looked away, blushing. "S-sorry."

The smaller let go. "Wow, look at the world, it's so colorful! Oh my gosh I can't believe I met my soulmate! Um, hi~ I'm Jimin. What's your name?"

"I-it's Jungkook," He answers, finally looking around. There were so many colors all at once, it was overwhelming.

"Oh, are you shy?" Jimin cooed. "That's okay! But I'll warn you, I talk a lot. Can we hang out today? You weren't doing anything super important, were you?"

Jungkook shakes his head. "Only getting groceries for my mom."

"Oh! I'll come, if that's okay. I just had work but I can take the day off, right?" Jimin asked. "Because they know meeting your soulmate is a big deal?"
