Chapter 2

It's been months since I last saw her. Today, as I get out of my room, I could see every member of the family are busy. My aunties and uncles are also here to help, as well as my cousins, for this special occasion.

"Are you ready now my son?"

I hug Ummy as I kiss the top of her head.

"Yes my, Alhamdulillah."

Months ago, I told myself that if I don't see her again, I'll stop and try my best to remove what I feel for her. And now, I'm finally doing it.

"So, when will be the wedding of Imran and Aisha?"

"As soon as possible, probably two months from now, after Ramadhan?"

After discussing about the Mahar and when will be the wedding, the both family socialize with each other. Alhamdulillah ala kulli hāl, for it went well.

"Sir, may I have the chance to talk to your daughter?"

I asked Aisha's father after our talk.

"Don't be so formal my son, since you'll be part of the family In shaa Allah, call me Baba. And for that matter, of course you can. But, you know the rules right?"

He tap my shoulder as I nod at him.

"I'll tell my eldest son to tell her and accompany the both of you. Proceed to the garden, there, you could talk peacefully."

Saying my salām to him, I followed what he said.

As I sat down on the bench that was already placed there while I waited for them, I started to think about a certain matter. From this day, I should stop thinking about that girl I met once. Aisha deserves a loyal man as her husband, because of how good she is. I couldn't stop thinking how I come to know her.

One night, after reading the Qur'an, I was going out of the Masjid when I saw a woman carrying a plastic bag. She was heading to the corner part of the masjid. With the help of the Masjid's light, even if it's just a dim one, I saw a beggar sitting on the corner. He's an old man with disabilities, he doesn't have legs.

Subhanallah, how blessed those people who doesn't have this kind of disabilities nor any kind of it, how blessed we are for having a family who could support and love us. Alhamdulillah.

"Assalāmu Alaykum."

She greeted quietly. I could see the twinkle on the beggar's eyes as he saw her coming.

"Walaykum-muslam."

The beggar answerd stuttering while smiling widely.

"This will be your supply for this week uncle, please take care of yourself, aryt?"

Secretly, I watched at the side of the masjid, making sure they won't see nor sense me. I witnessed how she arranged the newly bought goods na nakalagay kanina sa plastic bag. This girl, I know to myself I haven't meet her, but I feel something strange in me, something familiar.

"S-sukor Aisha."

"Ummy, do you by chance know someone who wears niqab and named Aisha?"

After I let her leave first, I quickly got home and ask Ummy about it.

"Yes, the daughter of Imaam Mohammad, why do you ask Imran?"

Not thinking twice, I told her what I saw earlier and informed her that I want to marry Aisha. My mother was ecstatic because of it, saying Aisha is a lovely girl, and she's been rooting for her to be my wife. Not wasting any time, she went to my father excitedly to tell him about my decision.

Everything happened smoothly, since my parents knew their family, as well as them to us.

"Imran, we're here now man"

Snapping out of my thought, I look up to see them approaching. My eyes instinctively look for the girl who's standing beside her brother. With her abaya paired with forest green hijab and niqab, she acted modestly in front of me.

'Relax qalbiy, stop beating abnormally.'

I thought as I patted my chest mentally.

"I know it's uncomfortable to ask, but may... may I request to see your face?"

After talking quietly for almost half an hour, I told her what I want.
