72: INT. RACHAEL'S HOUSE (LIVING ROOM) DAY FADE IN:
Three months later, Rachael gets a visit from Joe.
JOE: (knocks on the door)
RACHAEL: (opens it) Joe?
JOE: Hi Rach.
RACHAEL: Hi! (hugs him tightly) How are you?
JOE: Fine, how about you?
RACHAEL: I've been okay...
JOE: That's good... Listen, there's something I wanted to tell you, but I don't know how to say it.
RACHAEL: What is it?
JOE: It's um... It's about Steven.
RACHAEL: (looks at him with concern) What is it? Is he okay?
JOE: Yeah... He's fine... Rach, Steven's getting married.
RACHAEL: (eyes widen) What?
JOE: I'm sorry, I thought you should know.
RACHAEL: But... He can't! It's only been three months since we divorced!
JOE: I know, I don't like it either.
RACHAEL: How could he do this to me?!
JOE: (wraps his arms around her) (rubs her back gently)
RACHAEL: (cries softly into his shoulder)
JOE: Oh Rachael, please don't cry. It's gonna be alright.
RACHAEL: Joe, you don't understand... I still love Steven.
JOE: (sighs) I know sweetie.
RACHAEL: (sniffles)
JOE: Have you talked to Steven about it?
RACHAEL: No... I haven't seen him since that day.
JOE: You mean the girls haven't seen their Daddy in three months?
RACHAEL: Jayme's been bringing them, I just didn't wanna see him... It hurts too much.
JOE: I know sweetheart... Listen, Steven's got the girls tonight, right?
RACHAEL: Yeah.
JOE: You want me to stay with you tonight?
RACHAEL: Would you?
JOE: Of course. We can rent a movie and just stay in.
RACHAEL: I'd like that.
JOE: (smiles) Good. I'll go to the store and pick up some stuff to make dinner. Anything special you want?
RACHAEL: Oh, no, that's okay, surprise me.
JOE: All right, I'll be back soon.
73: INT. RACHAEL'S HOUSE (LIVING ROOM) NIGHT
Later that night, Rachael and Joe have dinner together.
JOE: (watching a movie)
RACHAEL: (barely picking at her food)
JOE: (looks at her) Rach, you okay? You're not eating very much.
RACHAEL: Yeah, I'm fine.
JOE: You're thinking about Steven, aren't ya?
RACHAEL: Maybe...
JOE: Rach, you gotta take your mind off it.
RACHAEL: I can't.
JOE: Look, why don't you go lay down for a bit?
RACHAEL: (sighs) Yeah, I am kinda tired. (gets up) Thanks for dinner. Goodnight.
JOE: Goodnight.
74: INT. RACHAEL'S HOUSE (BEDROOM) NIGHT
RACHAEL: (comes in and lays down on the bed) (sighs) "I laid awake in bed for a long time, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get Steven out of my mind." (notices a locket he had given her on the nightstand) (reaches over, grabs it and clutches it to her chest) (starts sobbing quietly to herself)
