Walking in the door, Mom rushed towards me, hand immediately grabbing my face and twisting it around to make sure I wasn't injured any other place than my nose.
"Now how did that happen?" She asked. Hop was about to chime in when Leon interrupted him. "Raihan elbowed her in the face. Probably on purpose."
I rolled my eyes. "Leon, he didn't do it on purpose. He literally asked me right after if I was okay and brought me to you. Besides, what have I done to him in the two days I've known him to make him want to hit me in the face?"
Leon didn't say anything. Mom just huffed. "I swear, you kids keep me on my toes even now." She made her way back to the kitchen, leaving us three alone. Leon glared in my direction. "Why are you even being so defensive of him? He's my enemy!"
I scoffed. "Just because he's your enemy doesn't mean he has to be mine!"
Hop tried to get in between us but Leon just lightly shoved him back. "No, but you wouldn't even understand why he's my enemy, Y/N! He's a terrible person-"
"No, Leon, he's not! You don't have to speak badly of him just because-"
"Just shut up, Y/N! You wouldn't even understand, you're not a trainer and you never will be!"
Everyone froze. I felt tears starting to form and I sniffed. "I understand."
I opened the door and slammed it shut behind me. I could hear Leon's muffled voice trying to apologize. I didn't care. I just..ran. I ran to the train station and got a train to Hammerlocke. I knew who I was going to see.
-------------------------------------------
It was raining when I got to Hammerlocke's gym. When I got inside, a familiar hoodied gym-leader was standing around, talking to a trainer who he'd just finished fighting. He saw me approaching and told the trainer something, and they separated. "Y/N, what are you-"
He stopped once he saw my red eyes. "What happened?"
"I had a fight with Leon. He-he told me I couldn't be nice to you because you guys are enemies, and-"
He snorted. "That's what he told you? Really? Sounds like he thinks you like me."
I sniffed and gave him a look. "What?"
He laughed under his breath and sighed. "He thinks you like me and doesn't want us to get close. He's legit never told anyone else we're "sworn enemies.""
I just shook my head. "He told me I could never be a trainer and that I'd never understand."
Raihan gave me a sympathetic look. "I'm, uh, sorry you guys got into a fight?"
In the moment, I don't know why, but I just rushed forward and wrapped my arms around him. He was taken aback at first, but his arms slowly, awkwardly, came down and squeezed. We separated and he smiled. "So..."
I shrugged. "Thanks. I needed that."
I could see a slight blush spread across his cheeks and he turned away. "I have to go talk to a trainer. Sorry."
He sped off towards a random trainer with their Pokemon and struck up a conversation, playing off what just happened like it was nothing. I just smiled. At least I had him.
-So, uhh,, short chapter?? Again?? I literally had no motivation to write this, but here we go??-
