-yess, long chapter for once. angst warning?? I guess??-

I walked down the street. It was cold and windy today, but since I rushed to Hammerlocke to see Raihan I hadn't really prepared for anything. I shivered as several people passed by with their children, Pokemon, or both. I was just starting to realize that Hammerlocke was a pretty popular place considering so many Trainers had to come here to do the Gym challenge and, well, Raihan was here. Who wouldn't like the guy?

Speak of the devil, I bumped into a familiar tall figure who stumbled back. "Oh, uh, Y/N. I didn't think you were still here..."

He rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact. I fiddled with my thumbs as we stood in awkward silence.

The silence was broken by me shivering. His gaze finally came to me. "Are you okay?"

I shrugged. "I mean, it's thirty degrees outside and I'm wearing shorts and a tank top. Really depends on what you classify as 'okay'."

He quickly started fumbling with the zipper on his jacket. Unzipping it, he quickly shoved it in my direction. "Here. Take it."

I lightly held up my hands in protest. "Raihan, I'm fine, really-"

He cut me off by grabbing my arms to put them through the arm holes of the jacket. I flinched at the sudden motion of contact, especially since he grabbed me.

The jacket was obviously too big on me, so it almost covered my shorts. He was only wearing a thin t-shirt under the jacket so he couldn't have been any more comfortable than I was. "Raihan, please, just-"

Cutting me off AGAIN, he waved his hand dismissively. "Nah, it's fine, you can have it. For today. Then I need it back for the match tomorrow."

I felt my heart ping in my chest. I smiled gently. "Thank you."

I saw a smile flash across his face before he turned. "See ya around."

I waved gently as he walked away. "See ya."

-----------------------

I was currently sitting in one of the many cafes in Hammerlocke, blowing on a coffee I'd ordered. I hadn't really done much all day, just wandered around on my own. I hadn't seen Leon or Hop for a while, assuming they were still trying to find me. Maybe Mom had made them leave me be. Or maybe-

"Hey there."

The sudden voice caught me off guard and I flinched. I turned to see a tall, muscular looking guy standing by my table. "Are you here by yourself?"

I shifted in my seat. "Um, yes. Can I help you?"

He chuckled. "Well, if I could get your number?"

I looked away, uncomfortably. "Um, no, sorry."

His face turned to that of anger. "I don't think so, little lady. Let's go."

He grabbed my arm and my eyes widened. "H-hey!"

Just as I was about to start screaming, someone grabbed the guy and threw him off of me. It wasn't until I was backed against a table before I realized:

It was Raihan.

I watched on in fear and amusement. Fear in the sense Raihan was beating the shit out of some creep that touched me, and amusement in the sense that the guy wasn't even putting up a fight.

Eventually he threw the guy out and held a hand out to me. "You okay?"

I blushed, heart practically beating out of my chest. "Y-yeah. Thanks."

He smiled. "It's no problem. That guy was a huge creep."

I nodded. "Yeah. Seriously though, thank you. If you hadn't come in just then, who knows what would have happened."

Raihan looked around at the other people inside the cafe. Not many besides the workers. They still seemed phased that Raihan had just come in and beat up some guy. "It's not like they would have done anything."

He didn't wait for a reaction, instead, he took my hand and we walked outside. "So...you should probably go talk to Leon."

I sighed. "I guess so. I just assumed he would have come by now if he wanted to apologize."

He shook his head. "I don't think he realizes how to handle emotions properly. I mean, it's not like he's really had to deal with them."

Yeah, maybe not. But there had been an occasion a while back I remembered. It was before Hop was old enough to really understand what was going on around him.

It was also the only time I ever witnessed Leon cry.

The day my dad left was...traumatic, to say the least. He and Mom had been arguing in their bedroon, something Leon and I had grown accustomed to. When all of a sudden he came barging out, carrying a bag.

My mom came out right behind him, begging him to stay. Leon started crying after he realized what was happening. Dad turned to him and went to hit him. I don't have a very clear memory after that. I remember a sharp pain on my face and I fell over. Mom was screaming at him to get out or she was calling the police.

After he left, Mom cried a lot. So did Leon. After that, I never saw Leon cry again.

"Y/N?"

Raihan's voice snapped me out of my flashback. I shivered a little bit and I prepared to talk. "Sorry. I mean, just, he can be emotional. He just had a much better grip on it when we were kids. When my dad was still around."

Raihan's facial expression turned into a frown. He visibly hesitated before speaking again. "I'm sorry, I had no idea."

I shook my head. "No, it's okay. Our dad didn't die or anything. My parents just got divorced after...well, their marriage was rocky from the get-go. I guess just being kids, Leon and I didn't see it sooner."

He nodded. "I understand. I just...Leon doesn't seem the type to have gone through something like that."

"You'd be surprised at how well he hides things."

There was silence before my cell phone ringing broke that. "Hello?"

"Y/N? Are you okay? Where are you?"

Leon.

"I'm in Hammerlocke. I'm fine."

"All the way in Hammerlocke?"

"Yeah."

"Oh. I'm coming to talk. That okay?"

I sighed. I guess we'd have to make up eventually.

"Yeah. That's fine."

"Okay. I'll see you soon. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and put my phone into my pocket. "Was that him?"

Raihan asked inquisitively. I nodded. "Yeah. He's coming to Hammerlocke so we can talk."

"Well, it's good that you're making up."

"Yeah, I guess so."

He pulled out his phone and pulled up his contact list. "What's your number, by the way? In case you ever want to talk..."

I smiled. "Hold on, let me get out my phone."
