Cara's boot-clad feet padded against the wooden steps of the stairs. Ben trailed behind her as the two made their way up the stairs to their rooms. As they walk down he corridor, Cara's eyes flicker to Diego's bedroom where she sees him sitting on his bed, his head in his hands through his partly opened door

"I'll catch up with you" Cara told Ben before walking to the direction of Diego's room. "You sure?" Ben asked, a concerned look on his face. "Yeah, yeah. I'm sure. Now go bother Klaus or something" the brunette chuckled before phasing through the door and entering the room. Ben walks away, leaving the two

Cara slowly approaches Diego and watches him with sad eyes. "I'm sorry I couldn't fight for myself. For Allison" she mumbled before kneeling down to his level. She knew he wouldn't hear her but she just had to get it out of her chest

Diego stays still, shallow breaths leaving his mouth. His leg was bouncing uncontrollably causing the wooden panels to creak beneath his boot-clad feet. "I-i'm sorry. I-I sh-should've" Diego stuttered out, raising his head to look at the blank walls of his childhood bedroom. His eyes were glassy as he tries his best to breathe normally

"I shouldn't have left. I shouldn't... I" his breathing gets more intense as tears slowly trickled down his cheek. He places his hands firmly on his knees as he lowered his head, soft sobs leaving his mouth. His chest heaves as more and more tears escape.

Cara watches as the man she loved broke down in front of her. Slowly, she raises her right hand and places it on his knee, just above his hand. Suddenly, Diego grows silent, lifting his head to look up at his knee where he feels a cold sensation over his hand. To his dismay, he finds nothing there.

"I love you" Cara whispered as she looked into his eyes which were looking past her. With a sigh, Diego suddenly gets to his feet and walks toward the direction of the door. He raises his hand to wipe away his tears before pulling the door open and stepping into the hallway. Cara watches with sadness as Diego shuts the door, leaving her in the room.

Cara sighs in defeat, looking around Diego's room before getting back up on her feet and phasing through the door. She turns her head and watches as Diego dragged his feet along the hall before making his way down the stairs.

"Hey" Ben called out, catching her by surprise. "Jesus christ" Cara exclaimed, bringing her hand to her chest which still had the deep stab wound. "You okay?" Ben questioned the girl, stepping toward her. "Yeah, yeah. Just... need something to take my mind off things" she replied. "Well how about we help you train your powers?" Ben questioned

"Don't you have anything stronger? Like vodka or something?" Cara groaned causing Ben to roll his eyes. "Trust me, if I had alcohol I would have gotten drunk the moment I turned 18" Ben chuckled. The brunette stared at her brother in sadness.

Thirteen years. Thirteen years of him being dead and he hasn't even tried alcohol. He lost his life at such a young age that he hasn't experienced the joys of adulthood. Not even once.

"Guys!" A voice called out cutting the two siblings. They turn their heads to the direction and spot Klaus, his head peaking out from his bedroom door. "Wanna play patty cake?" He asked with a smile. "Maybe I could practice my powers or something." Ben and Cara chuckle at their brother.

"You go ahead. I'll try practicing mine" Cara said, gesturing to Klaus who waited for them to join him. "Sure" Ben nodded before taking out the book that she had used not too long ago. "Here. And if you destroy it.." Ben warned, a hint of humor in his voice. "Yeah, yeah. You'll destroy me with your scary tentacles" Cara chuckled, taking the book from her brother's hand.
