After school, Amari had called and asked Malik if her and Mila could go to the mall so she could do her shopping since she didn't go the day before. Malik told them they could and informed them that he wouldn't be home till later. He also allowed them to go to the game. He was going too, but they didn't know it yet.

"Mila you like this?" Amari asked Mila while waving a newborn's onesie.

Mila clenched her jaw and knocked the onesie out of Amari's hand. "Amari put that shit down. I don't want folks knowing..."

"Okay, damn. You ain't have to do allat." Amari said while picking the fit back up and dusting it off before putting it back on the rack.

The two walked off and went into Finish Line.

"Oh, shit! These are nice." Mila said while picking up a pair of '95's.

"They'll look better on you..." A man said from behind her and Amari.

The two sisters turned around to a 6'0 slim, dark chocolate man standing before them. He had the most smoothest looking skin and looked fit.

*Got damn he's fine.* Amari and Mila both thought to themselves.

"I bet. Lemme get a size six in these." Mila told the guy.

"Those are universal in sizes. You want 'em in mens or womens?" Elijah asked.

"Mens, please." Mila responded.

Elijah said okay and walked to the back to grab the shoes in her size.

Mila look at Amari and squeaked. "Mila... stop. You know you got a whole baby daddy. And that man is just doing his job." Amari told Mila.

Mila laughed and said, "Which is what? Sell shoes. Not flirt with me."

"Exactly. Sell shoes! That man is a salesman. A salesperson will use any context to get someone to buy whatever it is they're selling. And obviously, his method worked on you cause you boutta buy them shoes. Pay attention foo. His ass look about Malik's age. That's a whole case. Annndd I BET he gon' make a move on me too."

Mila rolled her eyes, and before she could say anything back, Elijah came back with the box of shoes in her size. "Here you go, lil mama. Gon' ahead and try 'em on. You gon' see that I'm right." He handed over the shoes while winking at Mila.

Elijah then turned to Amari and asked her, "What about you beautiful? You need me to help you find sum' you'll good in? I'm sure it won't take long."

Just like she predicted. Amari gave Mila a look then turned back to Elijah. "I'm good. Thanks for the compliment though." Amari told him with a petty wink.

*Wow... I thought.* Mila thought to herself. For a moment she felt special.

Mila tried the shoes on and got them. Amari paid.

"How'd you know?" Mila asked Amari while pointing at a frozen yogurt stand, indicating that she wanted some.

"Know what?" Amari asked.

"The salesman- how did you know it was a front for his job? And how'd you know he'd get at to you next?" Mila responded.

Amari nodded her head to the frozen yogurt stand, and the two made their way to it.

"You just gotta read in between the lines, pay attention and catch the catch. " Amari said.

Mila gave Amari a weird face expression and said, "The hell does that mean?"
