When Chase got back to Blackthorne, he was excited to reunite with his roommates. He walked into their room surprised to see that Daniel and Tanner were both already there.

"Hey," he said. They gave him a wave. "How was your break?"

"I went to a war camp with my dad. He's in the military," Daniel said. The boys looked to Tanner. He was silent. "How about you?"

"It was great. I got to spend time with my family. We went to the beach," Chase replied. "Tanner?" Tanner has been oddly quiet. He was staring at the ground.

"I stayed here all break," he whispered. Daniel and Chase were shocked. Who would want to stay in this prison? Tanner shrugged it off. "Being here is better than being with my dad." Chase and Daniel just nodded. The boys didn't pry.

Chase quickly changed into his jumper. The boys had a few hours to unpack. They folded everything perfectly and cleaned their rooms until they were spotless. This reminded Chase of home. His dad had never been able to break his habits of keeping things clean. The boys nodded at their job and walked to their first class: hand to hand combat.

A month later, Daniel ran into the room with envelopes in his hand. "Mails here!" He announced. The boys didn't get much mail. It was dangerous.

Chase didn't expect to get anything and was shocked when he was handed a postcard. It was from Hawaii. Chase held his breath. He didn't know anyone from Hawaii. However, he knew that Hawaii was where he was born. His parents were spies, they knew how to send a message. Chase flipped over the postcard. He read it.

Met with asset. Asset is dead. Granny is getting close. We think the school counselor is getting toasty in this weather. Find what you can.

Chase knew it was his father. His father was one to send cryptic messages. Chase reread it 3 times before he understood. His parents had met with the lead that Zach had told him about before he left. Catherine was getting closer. Chase knew that time was running out. The last part took Chase longer to understand. He knew toasty was the term for an operative who's cover was about to be blown. His mouth dropped as he realized that his dad was trying to tell him that he thought Abrielle was on to something.

That night, Chase ripped a page out of his father's notebook. He hoped his father recognized it. He scribbled a quick note and mailed it to his fathers dead letter drop.

Got your message. Will find what I can.

He sent it off in hopes that his father would get it. Next, he brainstormed plans to figure out how to find things out about Abrielle.

The next day, Chase had Daniel squirt onion juice into his eyes. He let the tears roll down his face and walked to Abrielle's office.

"Goode! What's the matter?" Abrielle asked when he arrived. Chase used all of his training to act.

"I just feel so lost," he cried. Abrielle jotted it down in a notebook. "My father is hiding things from me. He's never honest. He won't tell me about my grandpa or grandma. I just want to know who I am. I want to figure out who I want to be." Chase turned and grinned internally. He knew Abrielle couldn't resist talking about his father.
