"Gates are open. Enter now!" Caroline shouted into the comms. The girls sprinted through the gates. Bree jumped off the side of a mountain and tucked. She rolled until she landed on her feet at the bottom. Bree had pulled her wavy blonde hair into a high pony. She wore a tight, all black outfit.
Anna and Diana had both snagged yellow jumpsuits. They threw their hair into wigs and tried to blend in with the boys.
"Caroline can you try to find Chase's schedule?" Anna asked into the comms. "We need to know where he's at." She heard Caroline clicking on her computer.
"He should be in his room," Caroline answered. Anna nodded and the girls made their way to the jail cell looking rooms as Caroline shouted directions.
The girls dropped to the ground as a pack of Blackthorne boys sprinted by. They were running in unison and shouting. Anna shivered. She looked at Bree. Bree's eyes were wide as she looked at all of the rifle ranges and targets marked around for heaven knows what.
"So their cover is prison inmates?" She asked. Anna nodded. Bree paused for a second. "This isn't just a school for spies, is it?" Anna didn't answer her. She was going to leave that to her brother.
The girls made their way through Blackthorne's grounds. They watched as a boy hobbled out of the hospital wing. He had blood dripping down his face. Anna's breath caught as she recognized the boy. She turned to Diana, but she was already up and sprinting towards the boy.
"Sam!" Diana screamed. Anna watched as the boys face grew pale. He hugged his sister tightly. Sam was just a 7th grader. He was bloodied and beaten. "What did they do to you?"
"Training got harder. They want something. They're making us fight harder," Sam whimpered. Bree gave Anna a questioning look.
"Sam is Diana's little brother," Anna explained. Bree's mouth made an O shape as the realization dawned on her.
"We have to take him with us," Diana said. Diana turned to her brother and told him about saving Chase. Sam shook his head.
"No, I have to stay. Things aren't hard for me yet. You need to get to Chase, he doesn't have much longer," Sam said. Anna cringed. She didn't want to imagine what that meant. "He's in room 103. Go through the back, the guards don't check it."
Diana looked like she was going to cry. She hugged her brother tightly. "Thank you," she whispered. "I love you!" Sam let her go and watched sadly as his sister ran.
The girls made it to the jail looking dorms. They went through the back just as Sam said. They were beginning to walk through the doors as Anna stopped short.
"Maybe you should wait here," Anna told Bree.
"What?" Bree exclaimed. "No! I'm coming with you!" Anna took her hands.
"Think about it, Bree. If someone gets in here we're screwed. You're stronger than all of us. You can take whoever comes here. It's a better idea for you to guard the door," Anna explained. Bree nodded, but looked like she totally didn't want to do that.
Anna and Diana made their way through the stone hallways. Blackthorne was truly a prison. They darted behind corners and tried to blend in everytime a Blackthorne boy would walk by. They finally made it to Chase's room. Anna took a deep breath and opened the door. She looked around. The room was perfectly clean and organized. She noticed the weapons that were hanging on the walls. Her eyes finally stopped on a boy sitting at a desk writing in a notebook.
"Chase," she breathed. He jerked his head up. Anna watched as relief filled his deep green eyes. He stood up. Somehow he had gotten taller, broader, and stronger.
"Anna," he whispered. Anna took off running and jumped into his arms. He held her so tightly Anna almost couldn't breathe. Anna let a tear roll down her face. This was all that mattered.
"Let's go," she said as she pulled back. Chase grinned. He nodded at Diana. The 3 of them went out the doors. They ran through the halls and out the back doors. Anna froze. Bree was gone. She was missing and in her place stood a light skinned boy. He had dark brown hair and eyes that almost looked yellow.
"Peyton!" Anna gasped. The last time she had seen Peyton Newman he had been an 10 year old boy at a beach house. Now she looked at a 14 year old. Peyton was the son of Rebecca Baxter and Grant Newman. Anna really wished the twins were with them at that moment.
"Anna?" He said. He started laughing and hugged his childhood friend. Anna tried not to think of how big his muscles were as he embraced her. He didn't look like an 8th grader. He looked like a man child. But then again, Grant looked like the hulk.
"We have to go," Chase said. Anna stepped back and noticed Chase glaring at Peyton.  Peyton looked confused.
"You can't leave Blackthorne," he said with the shake of his head. Anna grabbed Grants hands. She ignored the spark that she felt.
"Peyton please! Chase can't stay here, it's dangerous. Let him come with us," she begged. Peyton held her gaze.
"Where are my sisters?" He asked. Anna huffed.
"They couldn't come. Now let us go!" She said. Peyton stayed blocking their way out. Anna watched in terror as 5 Blackthorne Boys that looked like seniors walked towards them with evil grins on their faces.
"Get behind me," Chase commanded. He ushered Anna and Diana back. Peyton turned and his eyes widened.
"Hey, Chase, don't you know that you can't leave?" One of them said with a laugh.
Chase squared up. He was ready to fight. Chase lunged for the biggest one. Fists and kicks flew. Before Anna knew it her and Diana were running at the boys that were older and stronger than them. One of them grabbed Anna by the neck and started choking her.
"Hey, don't touch her!" Anna heard a boy shout.
Anna was dropped to the ground as she saw Peyton crash into the boy. He helped her to her feet and pushed her behind him. Anna stepped forward and they fought back to back. Anna and Peyton grinned at each other as an attacker fell to the ground. They turned and saw Diana struggling with hers.
They all kept fighting until Anna looked up and saw Chase struggling. The boy had his fist drawn back ready to knock him out. Anna was about to scream as she saw a black blur fly through the air and land on the man and begin choking him. Long blonde hair flew as the girl hit him in the head and the boy collapsed. Anna watched Bree stand up and make eye contact with Chase. Chase was wide eyed in horror.
"Bree?" He whispered. They looked like they were about to kiss, but at the last moment they turned away from each other.
"Let's go," Bree said to the group. They nodded. Anna turned back to Peyton. She expected him to fight them, but instead he smiled at her.
"Good luck," he said. Anna hugged her old friend one more time. She left and looked back. He was smiling at her with a sparkle in his eyes. Anna tried not to go back for him.
The group made their way through the grounds with no trouble. They dropped to the ground when boys ran by. They picked up their pace as they realized that people were going to try to find them.
They started sprinting as they heard boys yelling. "Get them!" Was yelled over and over. Chase had grabbed Bree's hand despite the proven fact that it slows you down.
"Open the gates!" Anna yelled into her comms. She watched them open as 2 boys stood at the exit. Chase gaped at them. Anna recognized them as Tanner and Daniel. Anna feared that they wouldn't let them go. The boys were holding grenades. Anna cringed.
"Guys," chase said out of breath. "You have to let us go!" The boys were stone faced. Finally their composure melted. They each hugged Chase and patted him on the back.
"Good luck, buddy," they said. The boys smiled at the girls. They winked at Bree when they noticed her clutching Chase's hand.
"Thank you," Chase said to his friends.
"We'll get them off your scent," Daniel assured. "You've got 20 seconds before these blow up. The fire will keep them away." Chase grinned at his friends. He waved as they ran through the gates.
Bree jumped into the drivers seat. Chase got in the passengers and the girls filed into the back.
"Go!" Chase screamed. They only had 5 seconds until the explosion went off. Bree floored it and the car accelerated. They all screamed as the flew through the air and fire exploded right behind them. They had barely made it.
When they were finally safe Anna realized that Chase and Bree were still holding hands. Chase turned to her awkwardly. "So... nice car." Everyone in the car began laughing. Chase turned to the back and grinned at his sister as he said "it took you long enough." Anna smiled. Chase was back.
