("The truth will set you free." -John 8:32)

I saw blood all over my bed. I gasped. I pushed back, not wanting to touch it. I had no idea how it got there.
"Zach!" I screamed. "Something's wrong! Zach wake up!" I shook him. Zach wouldn't wake up. I rolled him over and screamed. There was a hole in his head. It was Zach's blood. I was laying in Zach's blood. He was dead. Someone had killed him.
"Zach!" I screamed as tears poured out of my face. I bawled.
"Gallagher Girl!" Someone screamed. "Cammie wake up! It's me, I'm right here. You're okay."
I woke up with tears pouring down my face. I gasped for air as Zach held me in his arms. I grabbed on to him as tightly as I could. He wasn't dead. Zach was alive. He held me for a few minutes as I bawled.
  "I had a nightmare!" I cried.
  "I know."
  "You were dead!"
"It was just a nightmare. I'm right here."
"You got lucky. I almost lost you when Catherine attacked," I countered. He sighed. We both knew that it was close. Zach had to use a cane to get around for a few weeks. The attack had left him very weak. He was extremely lucky to be alive. He still wasn't back to moving around or fighting normal yet.
"I'm alive," he said. "That's all that matters." I nodded. I looked around. We were staying in a condo. It was a safe house. I had been trying to find Bree all summer. I had come so close.
"We need to read it," I whispered. Zach and I had gone to retrieve a journal that belonged to my father. We thought that we had to get our hands on it. That was the reason that Bree was gone. It was our fault. I hadn't brought myself to read it. It just felt wrong.
"I know," Zach nodded. I got up and grabbed the journal from the desk. Zach turned on a lamp. "Are you ready?"
I nodded and opened the book. I held my breath as I saw my fathers familiar handwriting. I began reading.

Today is the start of a new day. I've finally finished all of my classes with the CIA. I thought I would be getting a huge mission when they called me in. Turns out that my mission is to be a guard at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. I have to admit, I'm not happy. I'm 22. I can handle a bigger mission than helping girls into their school after a long summer.

"He was a guard at the Academy?" Zach asked. I shrugged.
"I know that he and mom met on a mission. He never told me that he was a guard," I replied. We continued reading.

Update: it was extremely boring. They all showed up in limos or helicopters or some fancy cars. Well, all except one. One of the girls walked. It was so strange. She is going to be a senior. She's very beautiful. She has red hair and deep green eyes that were hidden beneath her glasses. I think I saw a hint of freckles. I won't lie, I was kind of into her. So naturally, I hit her with a "welcome back to heaven. Nice to see that the angels are still coming." Let's be real. This place is heaven! I would LOVE to live here. But instead of flirting with me like the rest of the girls this one actually scoffed. She looked at me like I was stupid and said "you're in the wrong place. This is actually hell." I've never met anyone like this. Especially not in this place.

"That's my mom," Zach said confidently. "It sounds just like her." I nodded and continued.

Update: I caught the red head girl trying to sneak out of Gallagher. She told me that she couldn't spend anymore time with her roommates. I found out that her name is Cat. Cat is different. I watched her disappear into a secret passageway. Why a girl that beautiful would want to hide I'll never know.

"She had a nickname?" I asked. I never expected Catherine to seem so normal.

Update: the Academy had us guards go into the senior protection and enforcement class to show them how we do things. I made sure to pair with Cat and if I'm being honest, she kicked my butt. Literally! I went flying across the room. She's beautiful and strong. Total package.
Update: Cat agreed to meet me in the gardens. We went on a stroll together. I learned that the girls of the Academy are terrible to her. Especially her roommates. They all play pranks on her and make fun of her. Cat told me that when her dad killed himself the girls said it was because of her. They said that if they had Cat as a daughter they would have done the same thing. Cat is broken. She blames herself.
Update: I kissed Cat. She's gone through so much. I'm honestly surprised that she isn't crazy. I would be if I was her.

"Ew," I cringed. I couldn't believe that my dad had kissed Zach's mom. The way he talked about her made me very uncomfortable.
