Nathan POV

I shuffled into Italian with my head down, my shaggy blond hair hiding half my face, my binder hiding the other. I sat in my seat in the middle of the front row. Taking out my notes, I didn’t look up when the teacher said to pay attention, and that she had an announcement, probably putting some activity or club together that no one will participate in. But instead, she said, “Students, I’d like to introduce you to a new student, Nico di Angelo. Mr. di Angelo, would you say a few things about yourself?” She smiled kindly at him. She really was a nice teacher, didn’t know a thing about Italian, but she was really sweet. “Γεια σας, το όνομά μου είναι ο Nico di Angelo, Ho una sorella più giovane, Senior sum vidi: et hoc est primo in schola.” (AN For those people who are not fluent in Greek, Italian and Latin, don’t worry, the exact translation is coming soon. But just if you’re wondering, those were the three languages used and in that order.) Everyone, even the nerds and me, looked confused. Then my teacher told him, “Mr. di Angelo, not all of us are fluent in multiple languages. Can you speak in English please?” Nico blushed “Sorry, whenever I’m really nervous, happy or angry, I revert to my first, second, and fourth languages: Italian, Greek, and Latin. What I said is ‘Hello, my name is Nico di Angelo, I have a younger sister, I’m older than I look, and this is my first year in school.’ A bit more about me though… umm… I-” he cut himself off with a gasp. I looked at where he was staring and saw… my crush.... Will Solace. Yes, I’m gay. Problem?

Anyway, Will, who was smirking, said “Hey, Sunshine, what are you doing here?”

“I could ask the same of you, Dr. Solace.” Doctor? He’s like 17 tops. He’s so smart though, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a doctor. I could just imagine him in scrubs, with his quiffed (sp?) blond hair and sky blue eyes… get yourself together Nathan! Will isn’t and never will be gay!

“Well, when you left to go see your dad, Ch- Mr. Brunner made me enroll in school. And Annabeth’s mom MIGHT have had a hand in making EVERYBODY enroll… even Thalia is at a school somewhere. Now, mind telling me why you’re here?” Will said, raising a single eyebrow. DAMN that was cute! While he spoke, everyone, including the teacher, watched, fascinated at how the new boy and the class hottie knew each other. “I will, Will, but then you have to get your smirking ass up here.” Will nodded. Surprisingly, nobody paid attention to the fact that a cuss word was uttered in the school grounds. “Well, my WONDERFUL step-mother wanted me out, so she decided to send me to school. When she chose this one, she and my father snickered and giggled until I left. Now I know why. Did you know that there is an SOS shelf at camp with our names on it? And that my dad joined? And so did yours by the way. Now get up here, asshole.” Nico said.

Will complied, his grin growing wider the closer he got. Finally by the time he was in front of the new boy, he was beaming more than a kid on Christmas morning. Nico noticed something when Will scratched his nose with his left hand, something that glittered in the light. “You wear it?” Nico said in barely a whisper. “Always. Don’t you wear yours?” Will replied, showing Nico something on his hand. “I haven’t taken it off. So, my dad gave me news on that thing we were talking about. The thing we talked about the week before I left, the big thing? He found her, in a small Italian orphanage. And Will, he said it was HER. And he gave her half of something, and he gave me the other half, so she knows who we are.” Will got really excited, “So that means-” “YES!! We’re getting a girl!!!” Then the most unexpected thing happened, Will leaned forward and kissed Nico. On. The. Mouth. Not a, we’re best friends, and this is some weird friendly thing we do kinda kiss, a full on, you are my boyfriend and I love you and we are adopting a child, kind of kiss.

The class was in uproar, girls screaming that there was no way Will- or Nico- could be gay. The guys were shouting in joy since their biggest competition had just been shoved out of the way, and I, was silent. My crush WAS gay, but by the looks of it, already taken.

“Willy-Billy” said a super slutty girl, Ava, (AN sorry if I use your name, I was just choosing randomly)  “Did you just kiss him? I thought we were together baby?” Will groaned, and, grabbing Nico’s hand, turned toward the offensive Oompa Loompa- excuse me,- girl, “No, were never together Maizie-” “It’s Maia!!” “Whatever, we were never together, and yes, I did just kiss my fiance.” Will said, both of them showing the rings on their left hands.

The rings looked like polar opposites, but seemed to match their partner’s personality. Will’s was pitch black with suns engraved around the middle in gold; while Nico’s was a shimmering gold with black skulls engraved. It seemed a perfect blending of the two.

“But you’re like 17. No way you can be engaged.” I said. “We can and we are. We got permission from our parents, (AN they mean godly fathers) We’ve even chosen the date, venue, groomsmen, tuxes, rings (wedding, obviously they have their engagement rings.) and, the date is coming up soon. So… we’re gonna leave now, and never come back! Bye bitches!” Nico said.

That was the last time I ever saw either of the two… until 70 years later where I saw their obituaries. ‘Mr and Mr Solace-di Angelo died peacefully in their sleep on 17 August, leaving behind a daughter, Bianca Solace-di Angelo Gerhardt (65) and a son, Micheal Solace-di Angelo (63). They also leave behind 4 grandchildren, Marie Gerhardt, Jonathan Gerhardt, Anthony Solace-di Angelo, and Cassandra, Cassie, Solace-di Angelo. They died of natural causes after a long life together. The two were married at the first possible moment: The day Mr. Nico turned 18. Before marriage, they adopted their first child, Bianca, who was so unlike her father, it was scary, family members say. They left the majority of their belongings to their children and grandchildren. Their final words before sleeping, Reyna Arellano says, where, ‘Will, it’s time to go see my dad. I’ll see you soon?’ ‘Of course, Sunshine. See you soon.’ Arellano, apparently knew what that meant, but was too distraught to answer anymore questions. Mr.’s Solace-di Angelo, passed after their cousins, Perseus Jackson, Annabeth Chase Jackson, Jason Grace, Hazel Levesque Zhang, and Frank Zhang. Jason’s great-niece, Thalia (16) was close to the deceased, and said, though the age difference, she regarded Nico as a brother. Piper Mclean Grace, the only member of the close-knit group of friends to remain living other than Ms. Arellano, has not allowed any interviews. Mr and Mr Solace- di Angelo’s funeral will be at 8:30 pm at their home.’
