Our winter break was just around the corner. I had been waiting eagerly for Christmas. It was easily anyone's favorite time of the year. You got school break, family gatherings, Christmas parties, good food not to mention the Christmas presents. What else can you possibly ask for? I was eagerly waiting to receive my presents particularly.

Since our Christmas gala was around the corner, my spoilt self, decided to buy herself a dress. I had to have a red dress for the gala. I would prefer sticking by the theme, red dress for a Christmas gala made sense. I was conventional like that, loved to abide by the dress code. Right after the gala, Britney Gomez had kept a party at her place. I wanted to go for a dress which would be appropriate for the gala as well as the party. Yup, I was thinking economically too. Sandy, Kylie and I had already made shopping plans.

Yesterday night Nick had texted me to meet him right after the prayers at the third-floor staircase. Third floor staircase a private spot of our school where couples met to get cozy with each other. I knew Nick wasn't calling me there to get cozy. He said it was something special. As soon as my least favorite yoga session was over, I made my way to that staircase to meet Nick.

Nick had taken efforts to dress up today. He had a white full sleeved t-shirt on with an army print from his collar to his midriff. The white complemented his fair complexion very well. Guys who put on efforts dressing up are definitely a turn on.

"I didn't know it you were celebrating your birthday today. Looking good, birthday boy." I teased.

"Can't say I wasn't anticipating this sarcasm. Your partner is rubbing off on you Ginna." Nick came back.

"Don't spoil the day by taking his name Nick." I said nonchalantly. I didn't want to think about my unpleasant scene with Adrian in between a pleasant one with Nick.

Things between Adrian and me were smooth as of now. There was some progress between us after the football game. I would say we were somewhere near friends. He still wouldn't talk to me at all but when it came to being a good desk partner, he made an effort. We aced every class assignment, test and team activity together with each other's help. He was smart. I got to give him that. However, on the personal front we still had not made any progress. He was still closed off and never spoke a word about himself.

"So, tell me why are you all cleaned up today? I would also have made an effort if I was informed."

"It's because I wanted to give you this. Now close your eyes."

I did as I was instructed. I felt him taking my hand in his and freeing my palm. He placed something itchy in my palm and asked me to open my eyes.

My eyes met with a bunch of mistletoes tied together in a red ribbon neatly placed on my arm. A tiny flashy silver label slithered it's way from the bunch. It read 'Will you be my Christmas date?'

I didn't even have to think before answering.

"Yes, definitely yes. Who would reject you after such a sweet proposal?"

I was at a loss of words on how overwhelmed I was feeling. For the first time someone was making me feel so special. It was a different feeling. One I wanted to feel a thousand times over.

"Ginna, do you know what this mistletoe means?"

I knew what it meant which is why I blushed to the shade of a tomato pulp.

"So, can I kiss my Christmas date?"

"You know it's not even a criterion to bring a date at the Christmas gala."

Was I ready to kiss him? I would be lying if I said a similar thought hadn't crossed my mind.

"I know but I wanted to pick you up for the gala. Now can I kiss you?"
