A/n: this photo has nothing to do with the chapter but can we just talk about this for a hot minute? I can't function anymore.

writing in italics for the commentary/live blog thing. Dialogue is in normal font again. If you're not interested in the race and only here for 'idk what I'm doing/whatever I've done in the past few chapters' just scroll down until these ——— things, they're like dividers or something. Thanks.

Good day, thanks for tuning in for the formula 2 Belgian GP. A classic circuit with lots of history and one high up on the list of many drivers. The second race of this weekend, very excited to see how this will turn out. Can George Russell finally steal the championship lead from Daisy Mayfield? He won yesterday, meaning he starts 8th thanks to the reversed grid concept.
Let's find out, ready? Set? Go!

lap 1.
It's light out and away we go! Albon leads the pack away ahead of his teammate and Ghiotto.
Albon already at turn one when Câmera and de Vries, who started P4 and P5, make contact! Both seem to be okay luckily.
They won't be able to finish this race.
The drivers behind gain an advantage over this. Norris now up in 4th, closely followed by Mayfield and Russell.
For obvious reasons, a safety car has been deployed.

lap 2.
It looks like Delétraz got involved in this crash, he's entering the pits for a new front wing, what a shame for him, now at the back off the grid.
Safety car out for a little longer as Delétraz left debris around the whole track, we don't want someone to have a puncture of course.

lap 3.
The safety car is in at the end of this lap.
Current top eight are Albon, Latifi, Ghiotto, Norris, Mayfield, Russell, Aitken, Günther.

lap 4.
Albon stays in front at the restart.
Norris fights Ghiotto for P3.
Further down Günther and Nissany fight in P8.
An incoming radio message from Prema.

"Dais? Can you hear me?" I pressed a button on my steering wheel to confirm. "Good, Nyck is back at the garage and he's doing fine for if you wanted to know," Joey said, the Italian always managed to say a little too much, but that didn't make him less of an engineer. "You're surrounded by British boys, but that's something you're used to right?" It stayed silent for a little while. "I'll just stop talking."

"I think you should, yeah," I answered. "Tell Nyck I feel bad for him."

lap 5.
The gap between the championship leader and Russell upped to 1.6s.
Instead of keeping Russell behind, Mayfield tries to get involved in the fight between Norris and Ghiotto.

lap 6.
Ghiotto tries to defend into Les Combes, but Norris slides it up the inside and is now in P3! What a move from the soon to be McLaren driver!
Not a lot going on down the field.

lap 7
Latifi attempts to change something in front, but not with success. Albon stays in front.
Mayfield and Russell are next to each other on the main straight.
Russell goes wide at La Source after Mayfield forced him to the edge, no contact whatsoever.
In the meantime, the FIA is investigating the first lap incident.

lap 8.
Aitken is the first one to pit for fresh tires, he ends up p14. Nissany now in the top eight.
