When I Walked Away

It wasn't my plan to walk away, but I didn't want to fight,

And it wouldn't have helped for me to stay, so I thought my actions were right,

I walked away so that I could grow, indeed I was lost,

But when I walked away I didn't know, for this I would pay a cost,

I ran into things that alarmed me, but still I ran further,

I even allowed them to harm me, so I knew I was in trouble,

I ran into places, that I didn't belong, still I continued to run,

And in those places, I knew I was wrong, and I knew this moment would come,

I walked away so that I could pray, indeed I had it wrong,

The righteous thing was for me to stay, God was there all along,

But when I walked away, I didn't think you'd be affected too,

Still I didn't stay but I found Grace, and God led me back to you,
