Chapter 11: Stuck

"We are....married" Tony looked at the $20 dollar ring placed on his finger.
Steve stared at Tony with curious eyes, this was all so weird.
Sitting before him was Tony Stark, the boy he held a grudge against for almost his entire high school experience for something so irrelevant.
And now, they were married.

"This is going to be a hell of a story to tell for coming Roger generations" Steve laughed.

"I don't plan on telling my children" Tony removed the ring and stuffed it in his jeans.

"That is considered adultery! Why are you removing the ring?!" Bruce scolded Tony.
"Because one, the ring is hideous, and two, this entire marriage is an act"

"I agree" Steve assured Bruce, "if people saw us wearing matching rings on our ring fingers it will cause an entire commotion, it's best to avoid that".
He tried pulling off his ring but failed in doing so.

"Steve?" Bucky raised an eyebrow.

Steve laughed nervously, "give me a second".
He pulled the ring again but couldn't manage to take it off.
Was it glued to his finger or something?!

"It's stuck?!" Bucky gasped, this was bad.

Bruce couldn't help but smile, he turned away so they wouldn't notice.

"It's fine, just leave it on. I already took mine off" Tony sighed.

"What the hell!" Steve cursed as he tugged on it again. This couldn't be happening!
He continued to struggle until his fingers became red and bruised.

"Stop pulling, you're going to stop your blood circulation!" Tony grabbed his hand.

"This is not fair! If I wear it you have to wear it too!"

"What about the rumors-"
"Who stares at our fingers anyway?" Steve twisted the ring and cried in pain.

"People with fetishes" Bruce muttered. Bucky laughed.

"You'll figure it out Steve, I'm not wearing the ring just because you can't take it off"
"Tony!" Steve watched his swollen finger in pain, "you super glued it huh"

"Idiot" Tony sighed.

They were at a coffee shop across the chapel, Steve had declared it their 'honey moon'.
The mere idea of it repulsed Tony.

"Let's go Bruce" Tony stood up.

"Where are you going?" Steve asked.

"Away from you"
"What about my finger?!" Steve frowned.
"Amputation is the fastest way" Tony grabbed his sun glasses and put them on.

Bucky stared at him in awe, he was acting so cool and distant, almost mysterious. But no matter how cold he acted, his short figure and messy hair made it all futile.

"Bye, Mrs. Rogers" Bucky yelled.

Tony shot him a shocked expression, "I hate you" he muttered.

"He's so loyal" Bucky whispered to Steve who grimaced in return.

"You're not wearing it?" Bruce was disappointed at the sight of his bare fingers.
"I told you, if people saw me and Steve wearing the same-"

"Tony!" They both turned around to face Bucky and Steve running towards them.

"And hell begins" Tony internally mentally cursed.

"What is it Capsicle"
"I got an idea!"
"What?"
"Wait, where's your ring?"
"Home, in a box, stuffed away" Tony lied, it was zipped in his backpack.

Steve sighed and laughed it off, "I didn't manage to get the ring off but....the ring isn't that ugly" he smiled.

Tony smiled, "sure"

"Look, I just wanted to say that the lawyer is coming over and you have to be there"
"And what will we discuss?"
"He needs to see the marriage papers, bring your ring, and then you will sign and....other things"

Tony nodded and agreed.

"Good, I'll pick you up after school" he grinned and walked away.

Had Tony ever seen him smile like that?
It was like those movie scenes when the hot guy looked over and shot the protagonist a smile.
Gross.

"Bye cap, don't lose too many brain cells on the way"
"Don't get any more crankier while I'm gone" Steve shot back.

"You guys look so cute together" Bucky stated loudly making Tony and Steve groan simultaneously.

Steve changed into his soccer uniform and was ready to head out. He looked at his ring and sighed, was this some kind of curse or maybe even karma?
The ring was ugly, it was a basic metal ring with not even a fake diamond in sight.
It was basically a piece of trash rapped around his beautiful talented fingers.

He shook his head and ran out the locker room.

"Wait!" Someone pulled him back.

"Peggy?!" Steve's eyes widened, "what are you doing here?"
"Can't your girlfriend visit you? Or what? Did you forget about me already?" She was clearly upset.

"Hey what's wrong?" He walked closer to her and looked at her with concern.

"You guys started the wedding without me and then.....you kissed him!" She crossed her arms angrily. Peggy wasn't one to get jealous but there was a limit to her patience.
She understood that Steve had to do this for the sake of his inheritance but....what kind of girl would just sit there and literally watch as her boyfriend married another person?!

"We had to....or else..."
"But you had already signed the papers! You could have just made up an excuse or something!" She argued.
Steve's eyes widened.
Why didn't he think of that? Because he was an idiot!
But what about Tony, why didn't he think of something to avoid the kiss?! He was clearly annoyed by him. And wasn't he supposedly the genius!

Peggy began crying, "I'm just really....scared".
Steve's heart melted, "don't be, I'm not going anywhere" he hugged her.

"Well...then don't be so nice to him....be mean to him....like before" she sniffled.
Steve smiled and nodded, "in my eyes Peggy, you are the most beautiful person in this entire world, I'd be insane to lose you"
