A/N: This one was requested by user190345. I didn't think anyone liked this part lol. I'm gonna make this one longer than the first part so I hope you enjoy :D!!

The other boy with the small beanie was at the end of the aisle, gazing at me with curious eyes. I noticed his small figure out of the corner of my eye and turned to look at him. My E/C eyes met his and he ran to the right behind some shelves. The whole family was barefoot. A very interesting observation. I watched closely as the woman I now knew as Evelyn search the medicine counter. I licked my dry lips slightly. Silence was something I had grown very used to, so sitting next to Marcus without communicating didn't bother me in the slightest. Evelyn paused when she saw a small container full of tiny pills. I saw as she very slowly reached out her hand and carefully moved another bottle out of the way to get the ones she needed behind it. I heard her let out a very very quiet shaky breath; not enough to attract one of those things. She then dragged the medicine off the counter silently with little to no difficulty. Evelyn grasped the pills tightly in her hands and walked over to me and Marcus. She crouched down in front of him and twisted the blue cap off. Her fingers traveled inside the tube and pulled out a pill. Marcus opened his mouth so Evelyn could place the pill. Evelyn then grabbed the canister next to Marcus; full of water I presumed. She unscrewed that and lifted it up to Marcus' lips to wash down the pill. After he drank, she shoved the bottle back into her pack. Behind Evelyn, I saw the older girl, Regan, I think her name was. She looked at her mom sadly. Evelyn turned around and gave her a reassuring smile. She then signed something to her daughter which I couldn't make out. Regan walked away. Ready to go Evelyn signed to us. The only reason I knew sign language was because my mother was deaf. She couldn't talk. So me and my father used signs to talk with her all our lives. I just picked up on it and learned it I guess. Me and Marcus nodded in unison. He was the first one to stand up. I gripped onto the shelf and struggled to stand due to the weak feeling gathered up in the bottom of my legs. Marcus apparently saw my need of assistance and extended his hand to me. I graciously took his hand and he guided me up and off the floor. His eyes were still puffy but he looked better. He didn't look quite as pale as before. I signed him a thank you. He nodded back with the hint of a small smile. You should take your shoes off Marcus suddenly said. It makes your footsteps quieter so they don't hear you he explained. Now I understood why none of them wore any footwear. I shook my head and bent down to remove my fairly dirty F/C shoes. I took off my socks as well and stuffed them in the insole. I held them loosely with the ends of my fingers by my side. All of the family including me had been gathered right by the door except for the little boy. He came approaching us with a small rocket-ship toy in his tiny hands. Lee's eyes went completely wide in panic as he reached out to Beau carefully to grab the toy. He lifted the toy from Beau's hands. Lee turned the toy over and slowly removed the two batteries nested inside. The very thing that had threatened our lives just a moment ago laid there, still, in his hands. I gave out a quiet sigh of relief. That could have been the end. Lee bent down and started to explain to Beau about how it's too dangerous to do stuff like that. That was close I signed to Marcus. I had a feeling me and him would become great friends. Maybe my luck has finally turned around...

(Time Skip: On The Road Back To The House)

I walked quietly beside Marcus as we all walked along the trail of sand on the road. Evelyn and Lee had left the sand so they could always find their way back home and so they could travel quieter. We were taking a path I've been down before. But that had been before...

Woods surrounded us on both sides. I didn't know what day it was or what month. I'd lost track a while ago. But if I had to guess, I would say it was the beginning of fall. Their were scarce leaves on the dry trees and the ones that had landed on the floor were all colored beautiful reds and oranges. Some of the leaves were colored a bright green. The green ones looked as if they were dying though. It gave me a very warm feeling despite the world we live in. A breeze of cool wind flowed through my H/C hair and I hugged my thin hoodie closer to me. I had been wearing these clothes for way too long. A bridge came into sight as we all walked closer. It was the same bridge my family had drove down one summer to go to the park. I miss the park. The way the light shined through the trees reminded me of when the world was normal. When you could laugh aloud for everyone to here. When I still had a family. I took my first step onto the bridge and followed behind Regan who was currently in front of me. My eyes looked thoroughly at the back of her head. I noticed a small device attached to her left ear. It dawned on me that Regan had been deaf as well. Just like my mother had been. There's something Marcus and I have in common I guess. I found myself looking down at the beautiful lake below me. The water was still and barely made any sound. The sunlight was very bright in this area. We were about half way across the bridge when a noise dragged me from my thoughts. My face fell and my mouth hung agape as I turned around to look behind me. There was Beau. Holding the same toy from before. The innocent look on his face made my stomach hurt more. Realization and shock overcame Lee as he started to run full speed for Beau. Evelyn dropped down to the floor onto her knees; trying to contain her sobs. Regan was confused and soon turned around too. Beau held the glowing toy in his hand without a care in the world. I heard a loud thumping coming from the woods. The trees began to shake and birds from the treetops flew away. Just before Lee could grab Beau and lift him to safety... He was grabbed. By one of those things. It jumped from out of the trees and just like that... Beau was gone. No trace of him was left.

(Flashback)

"S/N! NO!" I ran for her with my arms outstretched; ready to pull her into my arms.. But I had been too late. I watched as my own sister was grabbed out of the air and murdered. I stopped and fell to my knees.

(End of flashback)

I felt tears begin to brim at my eyes. I felt like time itself had slowed down at this moment. I didn't see Beau. No. The vision of her took his place. I felt my chest become heavy with emotion. Beau had the same fate as her.. Marcus beside me looked absolutely horrified and began to cry. I knew exactly how they felt..

(Time Skip: About A Year Later)

I felt a nice breeze run through me and I inhaled the spring air. I gripped the luscious, green grass below me; lacing the small blades between my fingers. I fluttered my eyelids open and stared up at the cloud filled sky. The sky today was a very pleasant view unlike yesterday's which had been dull and gray. The clouds overhead were wispy and some were very unique. The sun was shining brightly onto me as well. It felt like home. I wore a plain blue t-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. The shoes on my feet were old sneakers that were once Regan's (but she had grown out of them). I felt a presence sit down beside me and I smiled widely. I lifted my torso and sat up completely; looking over to the person. I found myself staring back into the deep brown eyes of my best friend, Marcus Abbott. Hi I signed with a smile. Hi he signed back playfully. I thought your mom was teaching you algebra I said. She will later he said. I nodded and looked down into my lap. As I looked down I noticed our knees and sides were touching. Isn't your dad taking you down to the river tomorrow I asked with curiosity. He nodded lightly. Yeah but I don't really want to go he frowned. I'll ask if I can go too I signed. That way you don't have to be scared I stated. Thanks Y/N he said with appreciation. He leaned his head on my shoulder; shifting all his weight onto me. Not that I minded. I liked having him this close. A few moments passed before Marcus lifted his head off of me and started to talk You wanna go to the car he signed enthusiastically. I rolled my eyes in a playful manner and nodded. He was talking about the old car by the crops. It was a vibrant blue and was covered from bottom to the top in rust. Me and Marcus hang out in there a lot. Me and him would always wonder what it would be like to drive a real car. Someday maybe..

He practically jumped up from his seat in the grass. He gave me his hand for me to get up just like he did when we first met. I gladly accepted my best friend's help. When I got up, I dusted the loose grass and dirt from off my outfit. The cold grass felt very pleasant on my bare feet. I jumped on him from behind quietly without responding and wrapped my arms around his neck loosely. My hands gripped the large red sweater that he was wearing. It was kind of normal for him to carry me like this. I enjoyed it. It always gave me a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. But I always brush it off. I ruffled his curly hair and pointed forward with my index finger signaling to go onward. His hands gripped my legs tighter as we set off so I didn't fall. We both started to walk to that old car.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed and I already got some ideas on a part 3 if you're open for it ; ). Sorry if there's some mistakes. I went back and revised like 3 times but there's probably more, so please tell me if you find some lol. I hope you have a spectacular day!!
