Cobwebs

Cobwebs! cobwebs!
In the corners of my heart
Latching onto the shadows left
As your Sun went dark

Now I still see the cobwebs
Not by light but by dust
Gathered around forgotten feelings
Like broken trust
Like a crack in the ceiling
Trickling down the chambers of my heart

The roaches of depression
Colouring every crevice
Giving off the impression
That this house has never had tenants
Peel the skin off the walls
To erase your lingering presence
Scrub the floors with resolve
To forget your concrete visage
And still...

And still
Your webs cover the chambers
My blood once filled
Pumping resentment
Through the halls we built
Staining the red black
With the ink of guilt
For eviction is inevitable
Where two wills do collide
For love is just a word
If spun in a web of lies
