I'm a 22 year old Male
Soon turning 23
Stuck in the work routine
Employed at a bakery
If I'm not writing poetry
I'm committing sales to memory
In between breaks.. wondering
How my life became so bleak
Thought it'd be like an action movie
With a tad of conspiracy
But when you're as average as they come
Don't expect the extraordinary

I'm tired of family dinners
Where I only have questions on my plate
When are you bringing a girl over (frowns)
How long is this gonna take!?
And it goes on and on and on
These endless 'marry young' debates
That shift into akward silences
Broken by suggestions to arrange me a date
What happened to love.. or to choice
Or the one I'm destined to meet by fate
Pretty girls don't buy bread they said
You're gonna die single at this rate

So here I am at the bakery
Now putting on weight
Crumbs of bread on my lips
Still craving some cake
Mouth full as the moon
Eyes spread as curtains
Cough! Cough! Cough!
Thud! He goes on the carpet
Staring at the view
Inside of his coffin
Single in life
Single in death
He missed nothing
But this single step

Or Did He?
Maybe sometimes the things we hold dear
Aren't all they are cracked up to be
