Evelyn's POV
(( { } = telepathy convo!))
I sat on my brothers bed with my legs and arms crossed. My long platinum blonde hair was held in a messy bun, and my crystal blue eyes were filled with rage. "Really Erik? A strip club?" I couldn't believe this! My brother and Charles had to go to a strip club to find a mutant! Of all places it had to be there! "I'm sorry Evelyn but it's not like we have a choice!" Erik argued.
It's not just Erik going that's bugging me. I hate to admit it but I don't approve of Charles going either. But why would I care? He's an adult and he can do whatever he wants. However I couldn't help but have an odd feeling of.....jealousy? I'm not jealous! Why would I be jealous? "Evelyn," Erik sat down beside me and put his hands in mine. "We're just going to be gone for a few days. Then we'll be right back. I know that me going to a strip club makes you angry but you can trust me." I looked up into his eyes.
He seemed sincere about what he was telling me, and his eyes showed that he was speaking the truth. "Alright Erik, but be careful." I told him. He slightly smiled and stood up. "You know I always am." He assured me. I stood with him and walked towards the door. "Guten Nacht, Erik." I opened the door and stepped out. "Guten Nacht, Evelyn." Slowly I closed the door, and turned to my right to see Charles opening his. Thankfully all the ice from earlier had melted away, and his door was replaced.
I walked up to him and crossed my arms."Of all places you could find a mutant Charles, it had to be a strip club." I joked with him. He seemed rather startled by what I said, but smiled at me and chuckled. "Yes, it does seem a little odd doesn't it?" I smiled back. I couldn't help but smile in front of Charles. I felt a warm feeling in my chest and a small blush tint my cheeks.
It seemed almost like eternity that we just stared at each other. That is, until Charles broke the silence. "You know, your capable of much more than you think Evelyn. Your much more than the monster you think you are." He said. I hung my head low. I didn't want to hear this, but for some reason I couldn't stop listening. I gained up all my courage and anger to look up at him. "S-stop Charles please. I don't care what you tell me! It won't change my mind!" I stomped over to my door and felt something tap in my mind. "And stop reading my mind Charles! Stay out of my business!" I opened up my door, walked in, and slammed it shut.
Sighing, I leaned my back against the door. I don't care what he says! I'm the monster parents tell their children about at night! I can't do anything except hurt people! Suddenly I heard a familiar voice in my head. {Im sorry Evelyn but I've felt your pain. All the things you've gone through with Shaw. I apologize for hurting you, but I know your just scared. Scared of yourself and the pain you've caused others. Your not the monster you believe you are. Your so much more than that.}
By then tears started to prick at my eyes, but I tried to stop them from falling at all costs. I couldn't bear crying with Charles knowing. I couldn't look weak. {Goodnight Evelyn.} The sincerity in what he says to me is overwhelming. He shouldn't stick his nose where he's not supposed to! But he is just trying to help. {Goodnight Charles.} I said back. I didn't know what else to say. My thoughts were so jumbled, I couldn't think straight. Well, I better get some rest. There will be new mutants coming to the facility, and I will need all my energy. All through the night I couldn't help but think about what Charles said to me. After all these years of being told I'm a monster, and hurting so many people. How can he change me?

•Time Skip•

Throughout the week more mutants began to join us. There was a woman named Angel, who apparently was the one from the strip club. She had dark hair and chestnut colored skin. For some reason when she came, she had an off vibe. It was almost odd. I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyway, the next one that came was a very friendly man named Armando Munoz. However, he preferred to be called Darwin. I'm guessing it has to do with his mutation. The third mutant was a young man named Alex Summers. I overheard that he put himself in a prison. I wonder how bad his mutation is to prefer solitary confinement. The last one was a very young man named Sean Cassidy. I haven't heard much about him, but he does seem rather young to be here.
Right now we are all gathered in a room chatting every now and then. The room is quite comfortable, with a few couches, tables, and a large window. I'm sitting by Raven and Angel, reading my book once more. I believe Erik is with Charles and Moira, discussing their plan to find Shaw. I'd much rather be there with them but Erik insisted that I shouldn't. He wants me to 'bond' with them or something. I know I could get along with Raven or possibly Hank, but I don't know about the rest.
Suddenly Raven broke the silence. "We should think of code names. We're government agents now, we should have secret code names," She suggested, "I want to be called Mystique." Hmm, secret code names. That sounds interesting, yet at the same time quite childish. I'll just keep reading and go along with it. I looked back up when Sean began to argue. "Damn! I wanted to be called Mystique!" Sean argued. "Well tough I called it," she turned into Sean, "And I'm way more mysterious than you." I heard gasps and laughter from them.
Ok, maybe I'll join in. But only because we're showing our mutations. I'd like to know more about what they can do. I placed my book on the table and watched. "Darwin, what about you?" Sean asked. "Well, "Darwin" is already a nickname, and, you know, it sorta fits. Adapt to survive and all." He replied. We all watched attentively as he walked over to the fish tank, wondering what he was about to do. "Check this out." He put his head in the water and grew gills! That's amazing! I felt a small smile start to grow as everyone clapped and awed. "That was incredible!" I heard Raven say beside me. "Thank you." He replied.
Raven then turned her attention to Sean. "What about you?" She asked him. "I'm going to be....Banshee." Banshee? I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Why Banshee? "Why do you want to be named after a wailing spirit?" Hank inquired. "You might want to cover your ears." He said back. I quickly covered my hands over my ears. I heard a faint screech emit from him and the large window, along with our drinks, broke to pieces. I'm truly impressed by their mutations so far. I wonder what the rest can do.
We all turn our attentions to Angel. "Your turn." Sean said. "My stage name is Angel," she took off her jacket and revealed bug like wings from her back. "It kinda fits." My eyes widened seeing her fly off the ground. "You can fly?" Raven gasped. "And.." Angel spit what looked like a ball of acid at the statue outside. The part she spit at began to melt at impact.
"What's your name?" Sean inquired Hank. "How about Bigfoot?" Alex laughed. I rolled my eyes, Alex is just being an ass. I watched as Hanks excitement fell and he held his head low. "You know what they say about guys with big feet." Raven butted in, standing up for poor Hank. "And yours are kinda small." I chuckled at Ravens comment. It was quite humorous, and it boosted Hanks confidence.
"Okay now." Sean defended. "Alex what is your gift? What can you do?" Darwin asked. "It's not," Alex hesitated, "I just can't do it. I can't do it in here." "Can you do it out there?" Raven inquired, referring to outside the broken window. "Why don't you just do it out there?" Sean asked. "Come on!" Darwin encouraged. "Alex! Alex! Alex!" We chanted. I have to say, this is the most fun I've had in quite a while. He stood up and walked out the window, with us following. Hiding behind the side wall, we watched him. "Get down when I tell you!" He commanded. He took his stance and was ready. "Get back!" He yelled. We moved back, then back out to watch him. He turned around to see us still there. "Get back!." We didn't move. "Whatever." He gave up.
He moved his body in a circular motion until red rings of energy emerged from his body. With one more movement, they flung off him and cut the statue into pieces. Damn, Moira won't be very happy about that. We all came back into the room and they all stared back at me. "Well, what can you do?" Alex asked me. I smirked, it's time to show these beginners how it's done. I place my finger on the table in the middle of us. Ice grew from under my fingertips and spread all over the table. My mark started to glow and spread up my arm, to my face, and the rest of my body. I jerk my hand up and icicles protruded from the frozen surface. I look back up to see amazed faces and hear awed gasps. "Wow that's so cool!" Sean complements. I smile a bit back and bow my head as a thank you.
Soon our simple conversation turned into a bit of a ruckus. Raven's jumping up and down on the couch to music, Angel's flying around and dancing in the air, Hanks hanging from the chandelier by his feet, Sean's hitting Darwin with chairs along with Alex, and thankfully I was just laying down on the couch reading. I knew enough to not get too rambunctious so I'm just sitting here reading. I just hope they don't get in too much trouble, or involve me when I didn't do anything.
I would try to calm them myself but really, they're just happy to be with people like themselves. Let them have their fun. "What the hell?!" I snap my head up to see Moira standing outside the window, very irritated. "Come on! You can go harder than that! Harder!" Darwin kept encouraging Sean and Alex to hit him harder with his protective skin. O boy, this won't end well.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stood in shock. "What are you doing? Who destroyed the statue?" Moira commanded. Sean panicked and pointed to Alex. "It was Alex." Alex put his hands up in defense. Raven excitedly jumped off the couch. "No, Havok. We have to call him Havok. That's his name now. And we were thinking," she pointed towards Charles, "You should be Professor X." She then pointed to Erik. "And you should be Magneto." Wow seriously? You just added an -o to magnet. I saw Erik roll his eyes and mutter sarcastically, "Exceptional."
Charles gave Raven and the rest a very disappointed look. "I expect more from you." He scolded. The three of them then walked away, leaving the mutants around me melancholy. Surprisingly I heard a voice begin to speak in my head. {Thanks for not making a ruckus like the rest of them. I'm rather disappointed by their childish behavior.} I smiled but tried to hide it from the unhappy mutants surrounding me.
{You know Charles, they're meeting people like themselves for the first time. They can finally fit in and feel welcomed. Yes they did get a bit carried away, but I'll make sure they clean up the mess.} I assured him. {Thank you very much, Evelyn. I guess I can see why they were acting a bit rambunctious. Though, I'm afraid that Erik and I must leave for Russia soon. Make sure they don't get into any more trouble. I'm sure you can handle them.} He informed. {I will, Charles don't worry. Have a safe trip.} I reassured.
I didn't hear anything after that. I assume that he's busy packing and getting ready to leave. It's very sweet of him to think of me though. I felt a faint blush dust my cheeks. B-but of course he's just being friendly. Right? A-and I'm a monster why would he like me anyway? Several minutes later, a few men came to take us to another room. Hopefully they won't destroy this one. It looked fairly similar, but certain colors were different. I sat down next Raven again. Thankfully after being yelled at, they've settled down a bit. I'm sure I can handle these kids. What's the worst that can happen?

((Sorry this took so long :/ I've been busy and my imagination was bleh. But I'm going to try to make the next one soon. I put this book on Wattpad and Quotev so you can find them both places. I can't figure out how to make italics or slanted fancy writing, so if it's around { } that means it's a convo through telepathy! If you know how to make italics, please tell me how! Thanks for reading! :3))
