"Yes?" I asked when a knock came to my bedroom door. Mello entered. "Here (He handed me a black cassette and a note). This was taped to the door." I took it from his hands wondering who could have possibly left this for me. Mello looked me up and down; as the smallest of smiles crept upon his lips he told me how pretty I looked today. I curtsied at his statement. "Thank you very much, my kind sir." I were dressed in a knee-length white dress decorated in yellow polka dots. Another kind smile made its way towards his complexion. " Looks like you've found yourself an admirer," he said pointing towards the note at hand. I unfolded it slowly, careful not to rip it apart. and read.

'Hate me if you must. Please don't ignore this; just listen to what I have to say. I'm surely a man of few words, yet somehow with you I've changed. L.'

I looked up at my friend in total awe. "Whim's it from?" He asked me skeptically yet curious. "It's from L!" I exclaimed slightly. I entered the cassette in my portable radio player and pushed the play button.

'I would die for you, lay down my life for you. The only thing that means everything to me. 'Cause when you're in my arms, you make me prouder than anything I ever could achieve. On angel's wings, you're an angelical formation. Angel's wings, like letters in the sky. Now I know, no matter what the question. Love is the answer, and it's written on angel's wings.'

'It's the way you fill my senses. It's the perfume that you wear. I feel like I'm losing my defenses. To the colour of your hair. It's the way you're always smiling. That makes me think that you never cry. I think I'm losing my defenses. To the colour of your eyes. And every time we meet. The picture is complete. Every time we touch. The feeling is to much. You're all I ever need to find myself again. I knew it from the very start. You're the puzzle of my heart.'

'So if I die tonight, I'd go with no regret. If it's in your arms, I know that I was blessed. And if your eyes are the last that I see. I know the beauty heaven holds for me. But if I make it through, if I live to see the day. If I'm with you I know just what to say. The truth be told, Girl, you take my breath away. Every minute, every hour, every day. 'Cause every moment we share together, is even better then the moment before. If every day was as good as today was, then I can't wait until tomorrow comes.'

'In the dark when there's no one else around. I still pray that our love can be found. Somebody needs you, like never before. Somebody wants your love, just open the door. Don't you leave me begging, don't turn out the light? Somebody wants you- I need you, that's right.'

'On angel's wings, you're my angelical formation. Angel's wings, like letters in the sky. Now I know, no matter what the question. Love is the answer, and it's written on angel's wings.'

I fell down onto the bed. "Is he bothering you, again? I'll sort him out for you, just say the word?" Mello said protectively. "No, in the contrary- It was beautiful. Nobody ever expressed themselves to me through song before." He looked at me in total disbelieve. "What? L, recorded you a song? Are you serious? We are talking about the same L here, aren't we?" He flooded the room with questions. I nodded slightly. "I'll be damned!" Mello barely whispered. What am I to do now? I've been going out of my way to cause him difficulty and inconvenience. How will I be able to look at him without being reminded of the tape? Is this his way of getting back at me? If he did record it for that reason, it's cruel! If he meant what he sang, then it's charmingly sweet. I tore a page from my notebook and wrote:

'That was generously kindhearted and delightful. You sure do know how to put on your charm, Thank you. A.

I folded it and asked as I gave it over to Mello, "Would you mind giving this to him? Mind keeping it secret from the others for now, at least?" He agreed with a smile. His smile had a hint of sorrow in it.

In the dining room I got my own breakfast. A mix of muesli and dried fruit, strawberry yoghurt and a glass of orange juice. "And a good morning to everybody," I said as I sat down with my friends. "We're being especially whimsical today," Erica quoted wide eyed. "You do know that she's always humorous, don't you?" Mello asked as he too joined us. Another breakfast that doesn't seem to be nutritious. Some kind of chocolate pudding. "Yeah, I know that- It's just that she looks extra fanciful today, as if something happened and we're out of the loop," Erica continued. And she can read all of that by simply looking into my whimsical attitude? "Really? I just had a wonderful slumber and to have a nutritious meal; go along with it- How can I not be full of whims?" Bubbles of laughter floated around the table, but something seemed off about Mello. What could possibly be troubling him? "They say that opposites attract! What's the matter with you? It looks like somebody just shoot your cat," Matt stated as he looked straight at Mello whim wasn't joining in the conversation. I haven't been here all that long, but I must confess that I've grown quit fond of Mello. If only he had been a few years older, but he isn't and I can't wish him older. I need to face reality. Perhaps it's the reason behind his downs. Maybe he's finding me to his liking too. If that's the case I've just stabbed a dagger through his heart by asking him to give that note towards L. I should have considered
the possibility.
