One man's trash, another man's treasure,
To what do I owe this pleasure,
Did our stars align, beyond any measure?
Or God had sent you, to tame this catastrophic creature?

In my mind, you were an ordinary human,
And I was buttered yet stale rumour,
The burnt-out lies sizzling upon the bitumen,
In my heart, I knew you were the one to fill the lumen.

Namasté, how are you?
Where were you when I needed you?
Even if you're seven oceans away, I flew,
All the way to seek your solace, and you understand me, unlike the few.

We both were the fruits from the same tree,
Bloomed apart, ridged across the scree,
Yet the night of nine called us back in those colourful sarees,
The languages of colours we spoke, bound us together to a different degree.

Your laugh fills my being like an old vinyl track,
The smell of old books, stacked on the rack,
The Queen of hearts slipped past your back,
And I'll pick the ace of hearts, even if I lack.

The coffee beans crush under my fingers,
The tea leaves rattled and the touch lingers,
Like the pale while whine, you hear the cold winter,
Like a fine wine, you taste better when it gets older.

You're my rose and I may be your dandelion,
Your withered petals will be my greatest fear,
Even if it means to enhance your thorns that smear,
I'd happily be uprooted, in a single tear.

The sky was on fire, but your embrace was cold,
It wasn't praised, it was frowned upon,
But what is the use of the basking glory, hanging on the sun,
When your smile is the clear water gurgling, to seek your shelter is where I run?

I shed a drop of blood every time I write,
I gain a pint of soul, every time you're in my sight,
It's a vagabond's company, and a wanderer's sunshine,
You're my pole star, my soul sibling is my northern light.
