Warning: I google translated A LOT of this (cause I don't listen in French class)

"Madame?" I asked the lady sitting on the gutter. "Madame? Parlez vous Français?" I ask again. "What?" "English?" "Yes." I pulled a handkerchief out of my pocket and handed it to the lady. She dabbed her teary makeup off and wiped her coat of the raindrops. I pulled my umbrella out and held it over us. "Do you have somewhere to stay?" "N-no." She sobbed. "Would you like to come with me? Just for some tea?" "Y-yes please." She sniffed, looking at me.

"Here, pass me your luggage." I put my hand out to help her up. She took it and handed her bag to me. "What's your name?" "Queenie. Queenie Goldstein." She sniffed slightly. "Queenie. That's a nice name." I complimented. "I'm y/n L/n. Follow me." I tell her.

We walked through the winding roads in silence. The only noise was the rain falling onto our umbrella and the stoned streets.

"Here we are." I said, pointing to a small café on the corner. Queenie looked at me in confusion. "I live on top." I inform her. Her confused expression ceased and was replaced with a small smile. "Y/n, Comment était ta journée?" (𝑦/𝑛, ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑑𝑎𝑦?) Monsieur Laffeyette, the café owner and my landlord asked. (𝚊𝚗𝚢 𝙷𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚝𝚘𝚗 𝚏𝚊𝚗𝚜? 𝙽𝚘...?). "Aussi normal que jamais monsieur Laffyette." (𝑎𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑀𝑟 𝐿𝑎𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑦𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒.) I answered, signalling Queenie up the stairs. "Y/n, y/n! attendre!" (𝑦/𝑛, 𝑦/𝑛 𝑤𝑎𝑖𝑡!) He said. I turned around to him. He handed me a brown bag, then I remembered. He gives me the left over treats of the day. I thanked him and walked up the stairs, where Queenie was sitting on an armchair.

I flicked my wand at the fireplace and sparks of fire came to life. I put the brown bag on the kitchen table and pulled out a plate for the treats. "So Queenie, why are you in Paris?" I ask, as I place the croissants, ećlairs and other assortments of pastries onto the plate. "Well, I came to find my sister. But I don't know where she is." Queenie says in a small voice. "Oh." Is all I could think of. "Well, I'm sure one of Monsieur Laffyette's French pastries will cheer you up." I smile, handing her the plate. "They do look good." She giggles.

We talk in front of the fire for what feels like forever. She told me about her sister Tina and about the American Wizarding school Ilvermorny. She says it's the 'best wizarding school there is.' I tell her about Beauxbatons and how different it is to most wizarding schools. "It's getting late. Do you have somewhere to stay?" I ask. "No. I thought I might have found her by now but apparently not." She sighed. She could stay here? I mean, I have an extra room with a bed and I don't have work in the morning so I guess I could show her around. I think. "Would you like to stay here? For the night?" "Ooh yes please!" She said almost instantly. I laughed at her enthusiasm. "Okay, I'll show you to your room."

Queenie's POV:

My first few hours in Paris weren't good. I went to the ministry and found nothing on the whereabouts of Tina. Then I heard Jacob and Newt but don't see or find them. And then I get drenched in rain. So really, they were terrible. But y/n seems nice. She offered for me to sleep the night and she fed me Mr Laffyette's delicious pastries, which I'm pretty sure are the best thing I've ever tasted. I say goodnight to her and dress into my sleepwear. I'm lucky I decided to pack just in case.

"Queenie? Are you dressed?" Y/n asks through the door. "Yep. I'm done." I say, folding my clothes and putting them into my carry bag. She comes in with a rack floating next to her. "Here. Give me your wet clothes." She instructs. I hand them to her and she levitates them onto the rack next to the fire. "They should be dry by morning." She grins, placing a jug of water and a glass on the bedside table. "Alright, well, if you're all comfortable and don't need anything else, then goodnight." She winks. I can feel my cheeks heating up at the gesture. Ive gotta admit...y/n is one of the cuter girls. I think to myself. I blush deeper at my thought. And I'm sure y/n saw that too.

"Whatcha blushing at?" Y/n smirked, squishing next to me. "Nothing." I say shyly.
Y/n's looks at me a while longer before shrugging. "Alright, goodnight then." She smiles. She's very pretty. I think, fidgeting with my nails and scratching my hands nervously. "Goodnight." I manage to say before y/n closed the door. It was silent for a few seconds before y/n peeked her head through the door again. "If you need anything, I'm the 2nd door to the left. Past the kitchen." She smirks. I nod and she closes the door again. Not to be opened until the next morning.

I work up to the smell of fresh pastries wafting through the door. Today, I'll find Tina. I tell myself.

Swaying my wand at the rack near the fire, the clothes lifted off it and into the air, folding themselves neatly and squeezing themselves into my bag. I clutch my luggage shut and make my way to the kitchen. Putting the kettle on, I grabbed two mugs and teabags for y/n and I and a piece of fruit for myself. I hope y/n doesn't mind. I think, biting into the fruit.

"Morning." Y/n says, slumping into the kitchen. She dressed nicely but she doesn't seem to be awake. "I take it your not a morning person?" I ask. She laughs tiredly shakes her head. The kettle starts going off as I pick up the mugs with teabags and place them next to it. I pour her tea first and put it in front of her seat while y/n gets the sugar and milk. "So, you gonna find your sister today?" She asks. "I hope so. I don't really want to be stuck here forever thanks." I say sarcastically. I would actually love to live here. In this house. With
y/n. Wake up to the smell of freshly baked pastries everyday. I sigh, but get pulled out of my quick daydream by a knock at the front door.

"I'll get it." Y/n says, grabbing her tea and striding over to the door. She goes for the front door around the corner.

"Bonjour." Y/n greeted the unknown guest. "Bonjour madame. My name is-" "hold on, I know some French. Bonjour Madame..." I looked at y/n's expression. She looked very amused at the two men, I assume's, attempt at French. "J'appelle Newt Scammander. Do you know Dumbledore?" I jump up at the name of the man. I knew I recognised the voices! I think, hurrying around the doorframe and to the front of the apartment.

"Queenie?" "...hi?" I say. Both Newt and Jacob look at me wide-eyed. "Anyway, you know Dumbledore? You're y/n l/n, yes?" Newt asks. "Yes, I am. You must be Newt Scammander. Dumbledore told me to expect you." "I bet he did." I heard Newt mumble. "Come in, we were just having tea." Y/n said, parting to the side of the door. "Thank you." Jacob said, stepping inside first, Newt following after.

We were all sat around the kitchen table. In silence. It was very awkward. "Soooo, why are you here?" Y/n asked, tapping the side of her cup. "Dumbledore said that you would be able to help us." "With what?" "
There was a slight pause until Newt started again. "Finding and protecting Credence." Newt said, taking a sip of his tea. "Alright."
