You were so happy when pyro slid you that doodle yesterday. It was a colorful sketch depicting the both of you burning down the nearby Denny's under a rainbow and in a field of flowers. The backside of the drawing was a sloppy note asking you if offering you the opportunity to go to the movies with him. Of course there was really no other option other than to accept the invitation. He was so cute, and you haven't even gotten to see what he looked like underneath all the gear. How could a sweet baby like him also be so mysterious? On the drive to the movie theater that night, you thought of what he looked like. You'd often turn your head to the passenger seat and try to envision what he looked like. Cute? Handsome? Burn-scar ridden? Maybe he was just two kids in a big suit. At times that seemed like the most likely answer, but regardless, you loved him. Seeing how he cheered the moment you pulled into the movie theater parking lot, excitedly looking at you.

The theater was old and had a certain style to it that made it all the more enjoyable. Light chatter in the lobby gave it a good atmosphere and had you totally relaxed. On your way in, you skipped the concession stand as you had snuck in some of your own snacks in your uniform. Oddly enough, pyro did the same. Not even batting an eye at the cotton candy. Interesting. He must have brought something too. After all, you two were alike in the strangest ways and the rest of the team would nudge you about it too.

Inside the auditorium, you both raced one another to the highest level of seats. He won and you both sat down and waited to watch Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It was his favorite movie.
Pyro looked at you and muffled as he held up 3 fingers in front of you. It seemed he was trying to tell you that he had watched this movie 3 times already.

"Really? I love this movie too!" you replied.

AN: Yes, I am forcing you to like Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Like DUH it's the best movie ever don't @ me.

He also tried to inform you that this 4th watch was going to be even better with you around. After a little difficult chit chat between you and the muffled pyromaniac, the lights had dimmed and the movie had started. Upon the loud boom of the stereo system, you felt his rubber glove grip your hand. Thankfully, he couldn't see how red your face was. Actually, you wondered if he could see anything through those foggy lenses. When was he going to take off that mask?

Later, you noticed that he let go and started rummaging through his uniform. "Oh my gosh" You thought to yourself. "If he's pulling out something to eat, he'll have to take off his mask, right?" You were so occupied with this question that it didn't even matter what he had brought along. It didn't matter if it was leftover pancakes that engi had made 3 days ago or that dreaded meatloaf that soldier would make that always consisted of 20% meat and a fricken 80% of pure bread. You took back what you said in your own mind when he pulled out a can of beans from his suit. "Bruh" you thought as you watched him dig through his suit for a can opener. He was actually going to eat beans in the theater and you were shocked. After fumbling with the thing in his thick rubber gloves, he shamelessly asked you for help.

"Of course," you whispered back to him prompting him to hand you the can of beans and the can opener. "I can't believe this". You waited for a loud part of the film before making your first crack of the can. After that, you made quick work of it all the while glancing around at the other movie watchers hoping that you weren't too loud. Pyro excitedly held his spoon up and thanked you when you returned the now open can to him.

"This is it. He's going to take it off!" you thought. You thought wrong. You watched painfully as pyro tried to spoon the baked beans into the filter of his mask. It was a messy process that left the mask dripping with sauce that spilled onto his lap too. Although it was hard to see, you sure could smell it, and if you could, the other folks nearby must be able to too. You tried to focus your attention back to the movie before pyro turned to you. He was offering you a spoonful and muffling something that sounded like "Want some?"

"No thanks, Pyro. I brough-"

"ATTENTION ALL MOVIE-GOERS!" Someone interrupted. You looked up and saw that Paul Blart himself was coming out of the screen. Last you recalled, the movie was not in 3D. He pointed at Pyro and you saw the glistening of the eyes of everyone seated in front of you as they turned their heads.

"THIS MAN IS EATING BEANS!" And with those words, the whole auditorium burst with laughter. An uproar that made your poor friend start to whimper in embarrassment. It must have passed on 2nd hand when you started to feel flush too. You had to do something.

You grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the auditorium and into the hallway so you could calm him down. When you sat him down, you looked at him and had the sense that underneath that mask, he was crying a little.

"Hey buddy, it's okay."
He looked up at you sadly and mumbled something that sounded like an apology. It sounded like he was saying "I'm sorry I ruined this."

"No no it's okay because guess what?" You asked as you sat beside him. He sniffled and stopped crying for a moment, anticipating what you were going to say.

"I was going to tell you, 'No thanks, Pyro, I brought my own!'" You said cheerfully. He tilted his head puzzled until he saw you shuffle through your pockets. You revealed that you also brought a can of beans. He seemed touched at your understandingness and sprung at you with a tight hug. He gave you a peck on the cheek with his bean coated mask and you blushed some more. After letting go, he bestowed upon you his can opener.
Neither of you went back in to finish the movie, because sometimes the best dates involve eating beans together in the movie theater lobby instead. That night you both vowed to incinerate anyone who dared laugh at the strange relationship you two had.
