Ben Lynch had already showered and dressed when Jett came in to shower. He held up his phone and Ben nodded. Jett had been on the phone with Kenzie.

"She good?" Ben asked. Jet nodded and smiled. "How's the human destruction?"

Jett smiled. "Sean isn't even two. He's busy."

"The loss sucked." Ben muttered.

"Yeah, well, we're good at them. You had a good game." Jett patted him on the back as he headed toward the shower.

"You hungry?" Jett gave him a thumbs up just as he disappeared around the corner.

Ben looked at his phone while he waited for Jett. He wasn't sure why since the only person he heard from after a game was his Dad. He barely heard from Kenzie since all her free time was air marked for Jett. It didn't bother him, because his best friend and sister made each other happy. He didn't understand how diapers, snot and carpools were a good thing.

Jett appeared in jeans and a Nike tee. Ben dressed, presentable in a button down and pants. They had an image to keep.

"Ready? I'm starving!" Jett headed toward the door without waiting for his answer.

The team had a shuttle waiting for the quick ride to the hotel. When they entered the bar, they waved at some of their teammates already at tables. The pitchers were at a large table and waved them over.

"Hey guys." Jett slapped Tex on the back. "Sorry, we couldn't hold on to it for you."

He had been the starting pitcher. When he left the game, they had the lead but blew it in the eighth inning.

Tex shrugged. They were a team, so there wasn't anything he could say. It was the media and the fans' job to cast blame.

"Take a load off, Benjy. We haven't ordered yet." Another pitcher handed him a menu. He glanced at the choices and decided on the ribeye.

The waitress came over and smiled at him and Jett. Tex held up his glass. "Darlin give me another one of these." Then he scowled at them when they both ordered water with their meals.

"We don't get five days rest. We're at it again tomorrow." Ben didn't like peer pressure and never had. He had seen firsthand the destruction drugs and alcohol left behind.

Tex's eyes followed as a tall woman in heels and skirt walked by their table. She glanced at them with a grin. The large pitcher stood. "Hey darlin'!"

When she turned and spoke, every jaw at the table dropped. "Hey Tex. Sorry about your no decision."

Jett started laughing and choking on his water. She thumped him on the back. "Are you okay, Jett?"

He nodded and gestured to the empty chair between him and Tex.
