IN WHICH Ylva Sigefridsdottir, also known as Ylva the Dread, had been an earl since she was a young girl, despite having two brothers, following the death of her mad father and power-hungry stepmother.

Hearing of the girl's feared reputation and countless warriors sworn to her, Ragnar Lothbrok decides to propose an alliance between them, leading to her and her men joining them on the journey to England, and in the process, she meets his son, Bjorn Ironside.

And despite swearing off marriage and love in order to put her duties first and make sure no one ever tried to rule through her, Ylva finds herself falling for Bjorn.
