YEARS LATER

I am a mother. I gave birth about four years ago to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Spencer and I brainstormed the name 'Dean.' Dean Jason Reid. Jason for my dad. When I was in hospital, my dad was there as well as Spencer with the rest of the team. My grandmother offered to be a part time carer for Dean when I went back to work a month or two after I gave birth. It was hard to go back to work, I felt a small part of separation anxiety from my little boy but JJ helped me. A lot. She mentioned how she missed Henry when she came back from her maternity leave. I was meant to be on maternity leave for a couple more weeks but I was it itching to go back to work. I was in the office when the team got back from a case, Spencer had gone back to work two weeks prior. I decided to surprise them. When they got back, I was sat in Spencer's chair

"Um excuse me Miss? Can I help you?"

I swivelled the chair round, smirking

"This is where agents are suppose to be right?"

"ALENA'S BACK!!"

The team hugged me, after Spencer did. Hotch took me aside

"Alena, your supposed to be on maternity for a few more weeks."

"I know Hotch, but there was something inside me. Something that made me come back sooner, my grandmother is more than happy to care for Dean when we are on cases."

He sighed

"Ok, I guess. Also have you heard from your dad lately?"

I shook my head

"The last time I heard from him, was when he came to visit dean about two weeks ago."

He nodded, walking into his office

THAT NIGHT

SPENCER'S POV

Alena and I were fast asleep, with Dean's in the crib on Alena's side of the bed. For a four month old, he was a very good sleeper. If he was to wake us up crying, we knew something was seriously wrong but he almost never cried. He was the perfect little boy, my little buddy. Everything was perfect, until Alena's phone buzzed loudly. Going off and waking the three of us up. Dean began to cry so I took him

"Alena, pick up that call. It might be important."

She answered the phone as I cuddled Dean

"Hello. Hotch? Whoa calm down. What's wrong? We have a case not too far from here? Wh- ok ok. We will be there."

She hung up the phone and immediately dialled her grandmother

"Hey gran? I'm so sorry to call this late but we've just been called out for an important case. Oh your a life saver, thank you."

She hung up, looking at me

"We have a bad case, an old man was murdered in a cabin within the woods."

"Why is it being handed to us?"

I questioned, she sighed. Putting her blouse on

"Because it's an Unsub that we've caught before, he is believed to have escaped prison."

My eyes widened, I had a thought but I couldn't say it out loud. Dean had fallen straight back to sleep, I placed him back in his crib with his favourite blanket and started to get ready too.

An hour later, Alena's grandmother had arrived taking Dean as we travelled to the address that Garcia had sent us. Alena was silent most of the drive, I placed a hand on her thigh

"Hey, what's wrong?"

She didn't take her eyes off the road

"This address seems familiar, I don't. It just scares me sometimes."

"I know hon, I get scared too. Everything will be ok."

She cracked a small smile, pulling up to the crime scene. It was a big, wooden, timeless cabin. It was far away from civilisation, empty with no neighbours so the perfect place for a suspicious murder to take place. I ducked under the police tape and walked into the cabin. Hotch was there with Morgan.

"The others haven't arrived yet, the old mans head was decapitated but the forensic lab should be contacting me anytime soon with DNA analysis."

As he finished speaking, his phone rang right on que

"Hotchner. Yes."

He paused

"Thank you."

He hung up the phone, turning to face us again.

"Um, Alena maybe I can speak to you alone?"

She nodded, confused and he took her to the corner of the room

ALENA'S POV

"Um, Alena maybe I can speak to you alone?"

I nodded, confused by Hotch's tone of voice, and I followed him to the corner of the room

"The DNA analysis team just called me and they identified the body."

He paused, it's like he didn't know how to tell me

"Alena I'm so sorry. It was Gideon's DNA."

My heart dropped, as did my eyes and pretty much my entire body. I collapsed onto my knees, Spencer ran over to catch me as well as Morgan. I gripped onto his shirt, sobbing

"Hotch what happened?"

Morgan asked, I sniffled

"It's my dad. His DNA."

Hotch cleared his throat continuing. He tried to hold his tears back, he knew my dad so well. They were best friends.

"Alena, you don't have to be he-"

"I want to. I need to find out who did this."

He continued

"Ok. I won't argue with you. I know it will be hard but you may need to identify the body at the morgue in the morning. Spencer can go with you, if you know anything about this cabin then please just search the entire place top to bottom. Seeing as you know it the best."

I had no expression, someone murdered my dad. In cold blood. Spencer just held me, I was shaking and sobbing. When I found the strength, I stood up and walked around wiping the tears away. JJ and Emily arrived shortly after, pulling me into a tight hug

"I'm so sorry for your loss Alena."

JJ added

"Yeah, Gideon was an amazing person. He's looking down on you, with a gleaming smile on his face."

JJ always made me smile, she had an amazing way with words. Everyone else helped search the cabin. As I was upstairs with Spencer, I walked into a room and gasped. Spencer ran in, grabbing me. I was starring at the wall that had a note on it written in blood. My dads blood.

'Dear Alena, I'm back. You and your husband and your son will be the next to die. Tick Tock.'

As Spencer read it, he gasped

"It's ok Ali, everything is going to be ok."

He wrapped me in his arms but I had one thought in my mind, I knew who it was. It was so obvious, I was in danger as was my family.
