The smile of peaceful love
With eyes set on You
The road is long and rough
But it's path is full of truthI need not know my fate
Or now, my future wife
On You O Lord I'll wait
For in You I find life
To delight to do Your will
Continue to plant in me Your seeds
A begun work to fulfillThose bright eyes that stare back at me
May it be in them that You I truly see
I've been looking to her for satisfaction
But it's only in You I will find salvationI deceive myself to find in her my need
But by You I will be truly pleased
I seek Father to understand and grow
All Your blessings and pleasures to knowI want her beauty
Yet I know You're the source
May I not work toward futility
In Your mercy, Your discipline enforceO my Future Wife, through you I cannot be saved
From this inward strife
It is with humility and mercy that I say
In you is not my light and life
But it is God within and over you that I must look to
The Creator of our hearts in whom we cannot be set apartI must find the Artist of so great an artwork
I should not and cannot end here
In my mind, selfishness and despair lurk
And it is our Heavenly Father I must trust and fearMy Future Wife, you are a true beauty
And it is to my grave fault that I have sought after another
You are a blessing I haven't waited for
Forgive me for not trusting in our FatherI had taken of the grapes of the wilderness
And they nearly brought me to death
I sought cisterns of my own seeking
And blotted all the promises He saidAnd then I was ashamed
And despaired of His thoughts on me
Of the works I stored up and fame
The distrust, playing, and greedIt was then when I had some hope
And embraced what He said
That I asked from Him a stone
And instead He gave me breadNone I had and little I expected
The doubting apostle, the returning prodigal
Ready to receive the role of a servant
Yet in me, Your strength was perfectedWhen I should kneel
And Your judgment to plead
Your crown You laid aside
And washed and bathed my feetAnd now my Future Dear to me You've brought
You have given me more than I have asked
You first and above all things I've sought
At the break of dawn You came and answered me at lastSelah
Now my Father
My Future Wife
What more is there to tell
What blessing there is to drink from my own wellFather, I love You
And ever on will I see my Wife
My heart is old; You make all things new
You are the fountain of my lifeMy Future Dear, you are a treasure waiting to be opened
I dare not open myself up before
In this sleep will I wait
To receive you from the hand of the LordI am half and incomplete
Yet I will wait on Him
You are the other I have yet to meet
These thoughts and unfading hopes I treasure
Deep within
