(Kuroka's POV)

"Ne, Kuroka, I know all of this, yet when I looked at you I can't see any of it. Cruel? Heartless? Evil? All I see is a clumsy girl, who is trying her best."

When I heard John said those words, I couldn't help but felt my heart skipped a beat. When John had mentioned that I was a stray, I felt weak. It brought back unpleasant memories of my sister, Shirone, but seeing that smile on his face I felt at ease.

I felt wronged but being unable to express myself, I couldn't help but bring the bottom part of my lips upwards. Seeing my pitiful state, John laughs. His laughs broke the tension and made me felt quite embarrassed. The sensation of being laugh at was not a bad one, at least not from John, but I can't say it was a pleasant feeling.

Seeing how he continued to laugh, I couldn't help but have one thought running through my mind.

Ah, it would seem my master is quite a heartless person. Truly a sadistic person.

"So Kuroka, would you tell me the reason why they would call my Kuro-chan such awful things? Can you trust me?" He asked.

Looking into his eyes, I feel a warm sensation spreading through my body. The way his arms held me, from the way his eyes gazed into me, I felt as if all my secrets have been revealed. It was a warm feeling and feeling the hand around my waist, I could feel a sense of security. It was a feeling I've longed for.

Without knowing it, my mouth began to move.

When I was young, I witness my mother's, unrequited love. She loved me dearly, but her love for my father was greater than her love for me. When Shirone was born, there was no love for her. She was born through countless nights of experiments, she was procreated with no passion, but I've loved her dearly.

My mother was a fool, she fell too deep in love and chase after my father and used us to received acknowledgment from my father. She received acknowledgment from him, but the way he looked at us felt disgusting.

He was a scientist. He loved his work more than he loved us. To him, we were a rare specimen for him to research. He loved his work so much, one day his work took him. Distraught my mother soon followed him.

For a while, it had just been us. We scavenge, we steal, but we survive. It was no place for kids to lived, it was no place for Shirone. Eventually, I was approached by a man. He wore elegant clothing and wore a charming smile. I recognize the man, for I had stolen his wallet that morning. When he approached, his eyes appeared kind and gentle.

Seeing my potential, he offered for me to join his peerage, and in return, he offered me shelter and food. I hesitated, but I knew the man in front of me was strong, I fear what he may do, and at the same time, his proposal was enticing. I agreed with the condition that my sister, Shirone, also comes along. Shirone was born loveless and was later abandoned by our parents. I am her sister, and her only family, I promised her I would never leave.

But the moment I mention her, the man smiled and his eyes shine with glee. For a split moment, I regretted my choice. The man was a wolf in sheep clothing.

At first, it was great. We had shelter, food, and warm water, but then the experimentation came. Once again we became specimens. I tried my best to keep Shirone safe, and for the longest time, I've succeeded. But I could only prolong for so long. Before long he asked for Shirone, but I decline. Eventually, he stops asking. I thought he gave up, but one night I woke up with Shirone missing.

When I rushed to his lab, Shirone was strapped to the chair, injured and unconscious, while the room was a mess. When Shirone uses sennjutsu, she would use it unhesitantly but would lose control immediately. It was clear he forces her to use sennjutsu and she went berserker. As she was berserker, she and the man fought.
