I was told stories from my mother that when I was born, it felt like the world stopped. It felt like the world was frozen in place. The feeling of happiness and beauty, all connected. That suddenly, there wasn't a worry in the world; they just all flew out of the window.
I felt the complete opposite as I stared at Lara in utter shock. I had no clue how the fuck she found out. Judging by the fact she wasn't freaking out, made me assume she knew about it for a while.
I blinked several times, "What are you talking about?"
"Come on Gage, don't play stupid with me" Lara said with an eye roll, "I saw you shifting in the video on my phone from the attack"
Frowning, I shook my head, "Video? What video are you talking about?"
"That's beside the point of what we are talking about right now. We're talking about how I know you grow hair, fangs, and your eyes change into a icy blue color"
Chuckling, I smiled, "Fangs are for vampires actually"
Giving me an 'are you serious' look, Lara rolled her eyes, "This isn't some joke Gage, why are you suddenly everywhere I am? Am I your next target? Is that red eyed wolf your friend? Is he coming back to attack me?"
"Whoa, hold up" I said, holding up my hand, "First off, I would never send someone to hurt you. That red wolf is as much of an enemy to me as he is to you. Second, you were never my target. You aren't a target, you're much more to me than that"
Frowning, Lara shook her head, "I don't understand, what else am I to you? Because I'm pretty sure werewolves don't just go to humans begging to become besties"
"I'm guessing you haven't done all your research yet on me have you?"
"I didn't know there was more to even research. I thought I was beginning to have feelings for an actual human not some guy that howls at the moon"
I held in my laughter and smirked, "You have feelings for me now huh?"
Narrowing her eyes, Lara hit me on the arm, "This is serious Gage, you're a werewolf! This isn't possible, it shouldn't be possible"
"Lara, I can explain everything to you, I promise" I said, watching as her expression changed from angry to a softened expression.
"I've grown up with a hectic life Gage, I can't do that anymore"
I knew exactly what she felt. I've had a hectic life for as long as I could remember. The idea of being able to shift into a wolf, worrying about controlling my anger so I didn't attack my teacher when she yelled at me, handle the responsibilities as alpha, and to try to live an actual human life, maintaining and owning a bar. It was all so very hectic and crazy to the point I wanted to pull my hair out. I was certain I had the most hectic life, more than Lara, but I kept my mouth shut.
