Chapter 2

" Is this guy serious." I muttered, sitting in the cockpit with Natasha, or Black Widow, who was piloting the plane while Steve went to take out Loki, who was currently monologuing to a crowd of people who he had forced to kneel on the ground before him using several clones placed throughout the crowd. " I dont know, but he better hurry." She said, as an old man stood up.

" Not to men like you.

" There are no men like me."

" There are always men like you.

" Look to your elder, people. Let him be an example." Loki aimed his staff at the old man, firing a bolt of blue energy at him, only to have it deflected as Steve appeared. " Go, Alice." Natasha said, and I nodded, adjusting my mask, before teleporting next to the man, and moving him away. " Go." I told him, and he smiled at me. " Thank you, young lady." he said. I teleported back to find Steve on the ground, while Loki sat with his hands raised, his armor and helmet gone, and a guy in a metal suit had him at rocket point.

" Peter is not gonna believe this." I said wide eyed, rushing over to where the staff lie on the ground, frowning at the blue stone as it lit up like it were alive before dimming slightly. " Weird." I muttered, before walking back over to Steve and the guy in the metal suit.

" Nice job, Alice." Steve said, and I grinned before realizing he couldn't see my face, and quickly pulling my mask down. " eh, no biggy." I shrugged, spinning the staff a few times in an attempt to look cool, only to lose my hold on it and hit myself in the ankle. " Ow." I winced.

Once back on the jet, I sat texting quietly on my phone while Steve spoke with the guy in the suit, Tony Stark, who Peter would have been fanning over if he were here. I glanced up when I felt eyes on me, to find Loki watching me.

" What are you looking at?" I snapped, and he smirked. " Just trying to figure out why you look so familiar." He said, and my eyes narrowed at him before we both looked up as lightning flashed, and the jet shook." What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?" Steve called out.

" I'm not overly fond of what follows." Loki said, and I raised an eyebrow before the jet shook again, like something had hit the roof. Tony put his helmet back on and started toward the hatch. " What are you doing?" Steve questioned, as he opened it, and a guy in a red cape landed on the door. I cursed in elvish before pulling my mask and hood up, and unbuckling as Iron Man was knocked backwards. He started toward Loki, but stopped as I stepped between them.

He tried to push me out the way, but I sidestepped him, and punched him in the face, making him shake his head and blink several times like he couldn't believe what I'd just done. " Ow." I muttered shaking my hand, before something hit me in the chest and I was knocked off my feet. " Alice?" Steve questioned in worry, and I let out a groan feeling like I had just been run over by a mountain troll.

" Another Asgardian?" Natasha called out.

" Think that guy's friendly?" Steve asked

" Doesn't matter. If he frees Loki, or kills him, the Tesseract is lost."

" Stark, we need a plan of attack."

" I have a plan. Attack." Tony said before flying out the plane, and Steve let out a sigh before grabbing a parachute." I'd sit this one out, Cap."

" I dont see how I can."

" These guys come from legend. They're basically gods."

" There's only one God, ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that. " Steve said, before jumping out of the plane. I let out a sigh, deciding to that I couldn't let them go alone, but when I saw that there were no more parachutes, I scowled. Wonderful

I ran toward the hatch, squeezing my eyes shut as I calmed my heartbeat down and swallowed my fear, before jumping after Steve. The wind rushed passed me as I plummeted toward the earth, then just before I would have smacked into the earth, there was a lurch in my gut and I found myself flipping around, and landing flat on my butt. I let out several words in both English and Elvish, before I got to my feet. I stumbled slightly, making my way up the cliff toward where Loki sat watching the guy in the red cape fight with Tony and Steve.

" Boys" I muttered listening to them banter, and Loki glanced at me, smirking slightly.

When the fighting finally stopped, I grabbed Loki by the back of his armor and teleported, appearing next to Steve, who glanced at me. " I apologize for-" The guy in red started to say, but cut him off as I shoved Loki toward him. " Yeah, yeah, can we go now." I said, waving him off and turning to walk away

" What's with her." Tony said, and I stopped, an annoyed look on my face as I turned back to him, I'm pretty sure my eye twitched, then in a split second I was in front of him. " In the past 24 hours, I've been dragged from my apartment, blackmailed, dragged halfway around the world, electrocuted, and jumped out of plane after a group of five year old boys. " I snapped, before turning to walk toward the plane as it landed a few feet away. I also hadn't slept much since returning from Middle Earth." That is what is up with me." I snapped.

I was halfway to the hatch as it opened, when I felt it, at the center of my chest. " Oh, c-"I started to say, before I lost all feeling in my legs, and crumbled to ground. It was like someone had shoved a needle directly into my heart, and punched me in the gut. The pain knocked the breath out from my lungs. Nothing compared to the first one I had received on my shoulder, but still incredible painful.

" Alice." I heard Steve cry, before the sound of footsteps running toward me. I smacked his hand away as he reached for me. " Just give me a second. It'll pass." I said, squeezing my eyes shut, as I panted trying to catch my breath.

" What happened? Is everything alright out there?" Natasha called out.

" What was that?" Steve asked, once I was ready to allow him to help me. " A price of my exsistence." I muttered, leaning on him as we walked toward the plane.
