***early chapter since I'll be traveling tomorrow***

"It would be a too dangerous! I won't to send you into the snake pit like that." Father all but jumps to his feet slamming his hands down on the table. Levi conspicuously leans back clearly not getting involved.

Traitor.

"I understand father, but we can't be idle or the threat the slavers pose will be much higher. After all it's not like a pirate group that only targets slavers and is otherwise amicable is just going to come knocking on the door." As I speak the ship jerks and grating scrapping noise echoes from outside and the door is burst open by one of the journeyman sailors.

"Captain a pirate ship has just latched on to the side! Oh, but it's the Alethian. So, they just want to check for slaves then they will let us go." The young sailor started off at a shout but trailed off towards the end as father and I stared at him.

Huh? Was there a wish granting genie hiding around here giving life to my desires? Should I be worried about this strangely easy co-operation. I was expected the plot to provide greater resistance. Is it because this character is not due to interact with the protagonist for two years that there is no resistance to current changes?

"I see, I will be out in a moment. Your dismissed." My father gestures the junior crewman out the door before turning to face me. "I know what you're thinking, and while I admit they are a good candidate..." I interrupt him as I come around the table.

Got to take advantage of the positive turn while I can. "It can't hurt to ask. After all they can only say know and this way, we'd have a viable excuse they could have 'kidnapped' your son and second as leverage to prevent you from joining the slave trader faction. Perfect excuse"

"As it stands, I'm prepared to bring our side to the table. We have had no real issues with the Alethian pirates, so they are a good choice for co-operation." Levi interjects.

"very well, I will feel them out but if I don't like what I hear this isn't happening." Father walks out of the room I quickly pick up a fresh piece of paper and outline my plan from the long-term goal of a population register thus a provision of official identities even for commoners. And then worked back to the delay and money drain tactics.

I turn to look at Derek where he leans against the far wall and smile sweetly.

Father had met him not long after starting his business. He had worked as a merchant guard to start with before becoming the second in command. He got along with mother until she passed and has no other family himself so far as has been mentioned. Not that that means much since apparently relatives can just pop up out of nowhere here. Strong opposition to the slave trade... Maybe I can appeal to the potential danger to father if we can't distract the slavers and the difficulty in making a distraction with means other than piracy.

I gesture to the explanation sheet. "What did you think?"

"well the plan is sound enough. Though I'm not convinced that working with other pirates or letting you go play pirate is the right choice."

"I can't stay a child forever. Realistically father can't be involved in that side of the works because it has too much chance for blow back. However, that's not my main concern, the slavers business is built on shady means I'm worried if we leave them too much time to work around that they will do something more than just business pressure to father."

"That... is probably not an unrealistic expectation. Still it would be better to just arrange for the pirates to do that work you hardly need to go yourself." Derek places the sheet of paper down before crossing his arms over his chest.

"Maybe, but I'm concerned about their ability to adapt to any changes. Basically, it is my plane I feel the need to monitor it so I can change it, as necessary. I'm not interested in managing the ship or crew just want to make sure that the approach is the most efficient. Besides, I'm not convinced that there is no other way to distinguish between the merchant and slaver ships." I lean slightly forward as I speak. I need to sell this. If I stay on the merchant airships, I will have a difficult time affecting the plot development.

I need the changes to start now so that by the time is in full swing it can't possibly pull itself back in line.

"Hmm, alright. We can work with your plan, but I will pull as soon as there is trouble to you."

"That's fine, so long as it is a real and sensible possibility not merely remote and fanciful potential.

Derek narrows his eyes as I respond. I smile and stare at him before he slowly nods. "Fine then, I'll go tell your father and talk to our would-be conspirators." He stands and then leaves the room. Once the door closes behind him, I lean back and stretch.

"That was quite well done." Levi stands as he speaks dusting his hands. "I wasn't sure you would convince them."

I twist to look up at him. "It's a sound plan. Probably the fact that the respected Royal enforcers didn't say anything to contradict unconsciously influenced them."

"Hmm, well despite your father's concerns you seem far to certain and prepared for this to be a child's whim."

Host, please do not unduly affect the plots development.

Really still making a nuisance of yourself. Clearly one of my goals is the elimination of the slave trade. Just because I intend to do so before the plot and the protagonists really get together is moot. I'm no cupid if they want to get together, they can do the hard work themselves.

Host acting outside parameters. Adjustment period proving counterproductive. Calculating plot re-tracking.

Oh,come on, clearly so long as I don't break the protagonists mental state theneverything is fine. As long as the outcome is right why stress the route?
