As I move across the pirate ship and everyone greets me normally, I surreptitiously make the places of things in line with the map and description I had gotten from Bri. It would have been weird for Bri to take me on a tour of the pirate ship before we switched out, but he assured me that no one but Gabel knew him well. They were loyal to mother and had seen him around in his lady captain look but there was not actually understanding. Thankfully the lay out is pretty similar to father's ship. I head straight for Bri's cabin with the intention of back hacking the beacon. I needed to know where they were to consider a good approach. As I walk up the stairs though I see two small paragliders strapped to the far side of the ship that where decorated to look like eagles. Moreover, there was a mechanism at the base of the mast allowing for the entire mast and sail to be retracted to the height of the second floor. I have a really good idea about how I am going to handle this.

I step into the room and place the beacon next to the analyser that Bri had told me was in the room. It was normally used to analyse rescue beacon signals from other ships in the Alethian fleet but with a little tweaking it should do what I want. Ironic that the hacking and tech skills I had acquired in the previous world carried over to let me break a few plans for this world. I wonder if I'll keep the swordsman ship skills when I go out? Not sure what I'd use them for, but it is interesting.

Detecting positive character growth please make persistent effort.

Positive for who? I'm really getting suspicious about its idea of good development at this point.

"you seem quite good at that." I start at the whisper in my ear

"Levi no wait Dev don't do that." My first instinct was that it was Levi teasing but that couldn't be right because I was on the pirate ship and Levi had to go do royal enforcer things and couldn't really just waltz on to a pirate ship. I was with Dev since Bri was always with Dev.

"Now don't over think it you were right the first time." Levi settles beside me leaning his head on one hand as he stares at my face. "After it would be mean to split the cute couple up since with a bit of make-up and a clothes change, I can be Dev as easy as you can be Bri. Much more efficient to help with things if I am directly involved after all."

"Ah, um, er, oh." I shake my head to get my brain working again I was thinking that it would be a bit like acting playing at couple with Dev since he was undoubtedly spoken for but now that I knew it was Levi.... I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do this. "Right, gotta get the job done right." I nod to myself. This is work, this is a job we are here to get the job done. Levi is just here to keep an eye on things in an official capacity. I focus back on the beacon and the room is silent while I finish the hack and reverse the track to display the co-ordinates of the receiver ship.

"Huh, that's not too far away. Maybe 30 minutes flight north of here," I mutter as I calculate the position while looking at the route map Bri had built into the table.

"That is right on the border with Knarlda, they are a hostile kingdom tensions run particularly high amongst ships in that area." Levi straightens as he looks at the area where the receiver ship is.

Knock. Knock. I turn to look at the door belatedly realising that I had yanked the mask off earlier as it had been obstructing my vision while I was working. I looked around but couldn't find it. Damn it.

"shh," Levi whispers as he spins me around caging me between him and the table with my back to the door. A creak sounds to announce the door opening as Levi kisses me. My eyes go wide, and I freeze in place as my brain shuts down. The kiss was only a chaste peck on the lips but all it was like my brain was getting error signals completely unable to react. Levi chuckles lightly as he looks over my shoulder. "Something we can do for you Gabel?" he asks.

Gabel, first mate, person who actually knows Bri. Okay reboot right now we need to be online for this brain.

"Ehem. I came to ask about the intended attack." As Gabel speaks Levi slides my mask back into place.

"Right, we have a clear location and so I think we need to be a bit creative without approach," I say as I push Levi away while sliding the mask back into place.

"What's wrong with just charging up to them cannon's blazing?" as Gabel asks, he scratches his head.

"I don't want to give them that much warning." I turn to face him and continue, "We have the right means to be a very subtle attack. If we do it well enough it will be like ghosts of the past have come back to haunt them."

"Eh, I mean you're the captain so will do it your way. Though I really don't know what's wrong with the tried and true."

"Nothing just want to see if there is a better option. Now the important question is, how much rope do we have free on board and how much weight can it hold?"
