𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟑

When leaving, he looked over his shoulder for a moment at 035.. only to sigh once more and continuing walking off. He headed downstairs, still somewhat tense. Not exactly angry.. but more or less confused. 035 was a liar, yes.. but he'd never lie to him. 049 grumbled to himself for a moment, staring at the downstairs living room. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse a shadow moving across the ground. Curious.. he'd approach the area, preparing himself. With a bit of hesitation, he'd quickly turn the corner with a scalpel, pointing it at... a cat? Confused, he would put the scalpel away as the cat would let out a small meow. He'd kneel down, humming for a moment. " Bonjour petit gars .. Que fais-tu ici seul? " He asked with a small smile tugging his lips as the cat rubbed itself up against 049's leg. Without thinking much, he'd go to pet it and scratch it behind it's ear.. only for the cat to fall dead thanks to his simple touch. " Merde!! " He shouted, panicking a bit before sighing and moving the deceased cat to the side as he hummed in thought while rummaging through his stuff.

A few minutes later, 035 came back down the stairs to check on 049. However, he came to see him with a cat opened up on the table. Honestly, this shouldn't even surprise him at this point. He took a deep breath. "I left you alone for what, five minutes?? How have you already started this?"

Right as 035 begun speaking, he'd put his index up. " Shh sh shhhh.. I'm doing something important. " 049 said, talking over the other as he went back to work on the small black cat. He was focused on the procedure at the moment.

035 was very annoyed at being shushed. Despite this, he walked closer to the table, in a position to hand 049 any supplies he might need from his bag.

It took a while for him to get done with the procedure, even with 035's help in handing him his supplies. When the cat was fully reanimated, he gave a thankful sigh and once again went to pet it.. and fortunately, it didn't fall over dead! Instead he got to enjoy petting a cat that didn't die in the first few milliseconds of touching it. " Je suis désolé mon cher ami... I wasn't thinking. " He uttered to the cat.

Though 035 didn't quite understand why the cat mattered so much to 049, he did agree that it was very cute. Even after being operated on and reanimated. "Well, good job, doc. You should apply at a veterinary hospital."

049 looked over to the other for a moment as he scratched behind the cat's ear, with a small irritated look. " Why..?? I can't even pet them without them dying.. "

"Just- ugh, nevermind... are we going to let it go?"

He'd look at 035 for a moment before looking at the cat. He then look back at the mask. " But, I already gave him a name.. "

035 scoffed. "We can't keep a cat. The second it touches my goo it'll die and you'll be miserable," he stated.

" Exactly why I'll keep Black bean away from you. " He stated quickly as he faced the cat, who he named "Black bean" and grinned.

035 inhaled slowly. "You named it. Black. Bean."

049 mumbled, rolling his eyes before picking up Black bean and holding him while petting the cat. " I told you I named him.. "

"Black. Bean."

" Black. Bean. " He said, along with a long pause. " What's so wrong with Black bean? Bean for short- "

"Mon amour... why are you like this-"

" OKAY HOLD ON- What? You're going to look at me in the eyes and tell me I can't have a cat? " He said with a small whine. " How could you.. "

035 tried to tell him he was ridiculous. But... he just couldn't. "Ugh... fine. Just don't let it close to me."

049 would grin, holding Black bean closely. " Wasn't planning on it..! "

"Well... I'm going on a walk. I'll be back soon, I'm just going to look around," 035 said.

He'd perk up, his smile dropping as he looked at 035 with almost a confused look. " Wait what.. are you sure? What if your host decays? What if the foundation is already here..? They'll find you. " 049 spoke in a panicked manor as his yellow eyes only showed worry and fear for the other.

"You act as if I'm some helpless child," he said. "I'll be alright, mio caro. Though if I don't come back in.. hmm, half an hour, you should probably pack up and leave."

049 became silent for a small while, staring at the other before giving a slow nod. " Just.. make sure to be careful. Please, mon amour.. " He'd utter the last part as his head lowered a bit.

"When am I not careful?" 035 joked before stepping out of the house to go on his walk.

He'd let out a sigh, rolling his eyes a bit as he looked back to Black bean as a small smile tugged his lips. " Je pense qu'il est jaloux de toi, mon ami? " 049 muttered, scratching behind the reanimated cat's ear as it purred. He then would sit down on the dusty couch and think to himself about things.
