Jaemin stared at himself in the mirror, taking in his disheveled hair and the enormous bags under his eyes, his hand poking his stomach dejectedly.
"I can't go on like this," Jaemin muttered to himself, his hands moving up to his face to rub his bloated cheeks, "I just have to call in sick. I mean, twelve hours with screaming toddlers and entitled kids? In my condition? I may just jump off a bridge." He continued in a dramatic murmur, lifting his sweatshirt up to poke at his belly.
He pouted as he jiggled his tummy fat, still digesting the wonderful slices of pizza that he had eaten yesterday. There was even an extra slice in the fridge for him to eat for lunch today. He let his sweatshirt fall back over his bare torso as his thoughts drifted to the events of yesterday.
Not only had Renjun exposed the fact that he had been injured to Jeno and Donghyuck, but he had cuddled with Mark and enjoyed a nice time with the older before Jisung showed up and discovered that the two boys were soulmates.
Yes. What a wonderfully stress-free day.
Jaemin looked at his phone in temptation, the urge to flake and call in sick was starting to become overwhelming. It would be so easy to just, dial the number to the daycare, cough a little and snuggle into his covers for the entire day. He had never missed a day before -- never used a sick day. He was sure Jungwoo wouldn't mind.
So, after an entire morning of debating with himself, he picked up the phone and dialed the number to the daycare, making up a very realistic excuse of not feeling well which Jungwoo ate up. Five minutes later, Jaemin was snuggled into his covers with one blanket wrapped around his head in a cocooned fashion, the blue-haired boy smiling with satisfaction at his decision.
His eyes were slowly beginning to flutter closed when his phone began to ring, eliciting a groan from the boy as he wiggled his arm out of the blankets and reached over to grab the ringing device. Without looking at the caller he picked up.
"Hello?" He said, not even trying to hide his annoyance at missing his chance to slip off into a deep slumber. He heard an unfamiliar chuckle from the other side of the line.
"Woah, looks like the princess woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Mark's voice laughed into the receiver and Jaemin's face heated up, probably turning bright red in the span of seconds.
Idiot idiot idiot idiot- "Oh hey Mark," he answered, and began to fiddle with the blankets wrapping around him. "Did you need something? Also, how did you get my number?" Another crackling laugh sounded and Jaemin smiled at the sound, not bothering to hide the action.
"You gave it to me yesterday dimwit," Jaemin blushed again and smacked his head, "Anyways I think I left one of my school notebooks at your house. Must have slipped out of my school bag yesterday. I need it for an assignment."
Jaemin sat up, the blanket falling from it's position around his head and he almost immediately spotted an unfamiliar green, spiral notebook laying on the ground by his bedroom door. "Yeah I see it. Do you want to come pick it up or?"
"Actually," Mark's voice crackled over the speaker again and Jaemin could just barely pick up a voice along with other undedentifiable noises in the background, "I was wondering if you could bring it to me? I'm at Yuta's shop, his secretary flaked again today so I'm filling in and I can't leave."
He let out a sigh and began to untangle himself from the blankets, wincing as his bare feet hit the freezing wooden floor. "Yeah, yeah, I can drop it off. Is it far? Can I walk or do I need to take a bus?" Jaemin asked as he grabbed the notebook and walked out of his room towards the door, not bothering to change out of his sweatshirt or sweatpants.
