"Mark Lee no smoking in my house!" Jaemin yelled, throwing his slipper across the room, hitting Mark who was discreetly trying to light a cigarette by the living room window.
Jaemin scowled from where he stood in the kitchen, eyeing down the guilty boy who reluctantly put the cigarette and lighter away. Although he would most likely end up going to stand outside despite the winter cold to smoke his stupid cancer stick.
Turning around, Jaemin pulled two mugs off of the counter: one coffee and one hot chocolate. He carefully made his way to his room, his tongue sticking out in concentration as he carefully placed the hot chocolate on the bedside table for Mark, said boy trailing behind him.
"Did you use the dairy free packets? I can't have milk," Mark said and Jaemin rolled his eye, turning around to give his soulmate a pointed look.
"Mark, I can't have milk either. You're fine," he laughed as Mark's glasses slipped down his nose and he made an 'o' shape with his mouth.
"Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot," Mark took his mug into his hand and joined Jaemin as the younger sat down on his bed, shifting his laptop onto his lap. Flipping open the screen, Jaemin took a careful sip of his coffee before handing it to Mark for the older to put it on the shared bedside table.
"What did you say you were willing to do again?" Jaemin asked as Mark shifted to press his side right up against Jaemin's, leading his heart to beat nervously against his chest. "Food jobs?"
"Yeah, like fast food or maybe convenience stores," Mark said in agreement, taking a sip of his hot chocolate before reprimanding Jaemin, "I seriously wish you told me about the money before, you know as well as I do that while I'm living here I should at least be paying rent."
"Well it's just nothing that you've thought about before and I didn't want to stress you out more in a stressful situation," Jaemin countered, typing 'fast food jobs' into the search bar before looking over at Mark who was already looking at him with an upset look on his face, "I'm not mad Mark so you shouldn't feel guilty for not thinking about it."
"You should be, and I am feeling guilty," Mark grumbled and took another sip of his hot chocolate.
It was officially winter break for the high school students and only a week remained before the classic winter holiday: Christmas. Neither Mark nor Jaemin had talked to Renjun or Jeno since the incident at school a couple of days ago, Mark out of forgetfulness and Jaemin, well, Jaemin had actually tried to contact Jeno and Donghyuck but to no avail.
It would be a complete lie to say that it hadn't been bothering Jaemin. He knew that his friends would be hurt that he had kept such a secret from them but he had always thought that they'd understand him due to his difficult situation. But from how Jeno had acted in the nurses' office, Jaemin found himself more worried that the news stations or government officials would show up on his doorstep.
Still, there was nothing to be done about it except to wait and see how it would all turn out. So Jaemin focused on scrolling through various job positions and read them out to Mark, to which the older would say yes and Jaemin would bookmark it, or say no and they would just continue on.
Soon they had complied a list of various job positions that had no prior job experience required and Jaemin was putting them into a spread sheet with various forms of contact information for Mark to look over and act accordingly. At first they had gone to Yuta, hopeful that he would be able to give Mark a job at the mechanic shop but he had just happened to hire another worker and the secretary had been working all of her days without fail.
So Jaemin continued to work. Two hours had passed by the time Jaemin finished compiling the list, the younger of the two closing the laptop and placing it to the side.
Mark was currently laying on the bed with his arms around Jaemin's waist, his head resting on Jaemin's stomach and his body laying over Jaemin's (the laptop having been moved to rest on Mark's upper back for the comfort of both boys). Jaemin took the time to begin rubbing his hands up and down Mark's back, occasionally through the hair at the nap of the older's neck.
"Hmm, you're a big baby after all, aren't you?" Jaemin hummed teasingly and Mark, surprisingly, nodded against his stomach, shifting to look up at Jaemin with a lazy smile.
"Yes, now cuddle me damn it," he complained and Jaemin laughed as Mark rolled to the side, dragging Jaemin along with him so that Mark was tucked into Jaemin's chest, his arms still resting around Jaemin's waist. Jaemin smiled at the boy's clinginess and closed his eyes, ready to take a much needed - and deserved - nap.
But just as Jaemin was close to nodding off, a sharp buzz cut through the peaceful ambiance, both Jaemin and Mark groaning in annoyance. Rolling out of Jaemin's arms, Mark reached over to grab his phone curling right back into Jaemin as he answered it.
"Hey Re-"
"Tell me why the FUCK I just got told by your parents that you don't live there anymore?" Renjun's angered voice was loud enough for Jaemin to hear and he gave Mark a sympathetic look as the older groaned.
"It's a long-"
"Just tell me where the fuck you are now and you can explain this absolute bullshit to me in person. Did you know how much I wanted to punch your damn mother in her face? That bitch has it coming to her let me tell you but JiJi was there and I couldn't just punch that homophobic piece of shit in her face with a child present."
"Yeah, yeah thanks for that," Mark laughed and Jaemin couldn't help himself from joining in, amused by the boy's aggressive yet supportive rant.
"I'm sorry did I just hear someone else laugh? Is that Jaemin?" Mark gave Jaemin a wide-eyed look and Jaemin frowned. Was it that bad that Renjun knew he was with Jaemin? "I swear to the father almighty if you are bang-"
"O-KAYyyyyyyy," Mark cut the other boy off and Jaemin was struggling to hold in his laughter at the blush of embarrassment burning a bright red across Mark's cheeks and nose, "I am at Jaemin's but if I give you the address you can't like...freak out or anything when you get here."
"Yeah, okay, that really depends on if I find a fucking condom on the damn floor nasties," Renjun retorted and Mark buried his head into Jaemin's chest, Jaemin suddenly feeling the overwhelming urge to tease Mark more.
"Ohh...Mark...ah," Jaemin moaned loudly and Mark jerked away from Jaemin, his eyes wide with surprise as he sat up on the bed, pulling the phone away from his ear as Renjun's angry screams filled the room. Mark looked at the phone with panic and then looked at Jaemin with a vengeful glare, the latter dying with silent laughter.
"I'll text- I'll text you-" Mark tried to get over the furious shouts and he closed his eyes with a pained look on his face. "I'll text you the address Renjun, okay bye!" He shouted and a pause filled the air before another shout sounded, quickly cut off by Mark pressing the 'end call' icon.
Throwing his phone onto the bed, Mark glared furiously at Jaemin, the younger sporting an innocent look as he blinked up at Mark.
"Wha-"
"You're dead!"
