"Hey", you say, "looking lean today!"
She nods with a smile and moves away
Look closely enough, she looks way too fray
Maybe that's why she didn't stay
On reaching home, she sees the glass
Thinking, "Not lean enough yet"
And proceeds to lessen the limited mass
Of all the food she managed to get.
"Hey", you ask, "What's that on your face?"
He seems to brush it off with a shake.
Disappearing to the restroom without a trace,
He curses himself for forgetting his mask..
After layers of concealers, he looks back
Murmuring, "Now, this looks like the real me"
While also yearning to forget that smack
He had to receive for thinking he could be free.
The smallest detail you point out
Might give them the biggest nightmares
So let's say it inside before we shout
To save our friends from their own stares.
