Paused

The view I saw from my window
Changed relentlessly with every passing day.
Cold, shivering winter moved aside to show
A scorching sun following it on the way.

The sunset grew hotter every evening
And the nights became darker and deeper.
It still didn't manage to give any meaning,
To my life that had taken a detour.

The summer slowly faded away
To the most beautiful spring we had.
But I couldn't be bothered to see it as anyway,
It didn't change me for the good or bad.

After spring came all the rain
That I'd been holding in for a while.
It still wasn't any sorrow or pain,
Or piled up regrets or unbearable trials.

The rain might dry up in a week or two,
But why is my room not keeping up?
The sky went from blue to grey, back to blue,
But why is my flow of time still stuck?

Someone pressed pause on my life
While I wasn't paying attention to it.
Maybe I did need some time away from time,
And that's why I haven't pressed play yet.
