chapter thirty one

"george i-"

love you

"miss you."

"i miss you too y/n." he said as i propped up my phone on my pillow, facing it towards me as i put my hand under my face. you can't say it y/n. i thought to myself as i looked back at george. you move way too fast. the last time you said it like that was to your ex, and we both know how that turned out. i covered my face with my hands, trying to conceal myself before george got suspicious. "what's up?" he said as i pulled my hands away.

"nothing nothing." i said, trying best to brush it off. he raise his eyebrow and looked at me, but eventually dropped it when he could tell how awkward i seemed. i pulled my covers up to my chin and wrapped my arm around my waist as i yawned. george was softly mumbling the lyrics to a song i didn't recognize, but was comforted by. my eyes began to droop as my body felt warm and safe. after a while, i couldn't kept my eyes open and allowed myself to fully drop them, drifting off into sleep.

i jumped into reality as i heard my phone buzz beside me, i squinted as i looked at the screen 5:21 am there were a few notifications from twitter and a few texts from george. i clicked onto the messages, seeing what he wrote.

george <3

goodnight. i hope you sleep well. i hung up the call so you could get a peaceful nights sleep x.

i softly smiled at my phone as i checked the time he sent it.
12:32 am
i rolled over and looked out my window, noticing the sun was still down. i checked the weather app and saw it wasn't going to rise for another 30ish minutes. i smiled and sat up in as and idea popped into my head. i got out of bed and quickly made it, throwing the pillows onto it in a haphazard fashion. i grabbed a sweatshirt out of my closet and threw it on as i quietly walked out of my room. i tiptoed into val's room to see her still asleep. as i made my way through the kitchen, i grabbed a notepad and pen and wrote a message for her.

on the roof. i got you breakfast

i clicked the pen in and grabbed my keys from the hook, putting them in my hoodie's pocket. i slipped on my sneakers and walked out the door, carefully shutting it behind me. i decided to go to the cafe just around the corner and grab breakfast for myself and val before going up to the roof of our apartment building and watching the sunrise. i walked down the stairs into the lobby of the building and out of the doors, turning to the left and making my way to the restaurant. i could walk there in three minutes, especially since there were barely any people in the streets. i also got my food very quickly for the same reason. i ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel for myself and nutella toast for val. the light was beginning to shine through the windows as i walked out of the building, pulling my sleeves over my hands as the morning air hit me. i walked back into the apartment building a few minutes later and made my way to the roof. we weren't legally allowed to go up there, but everyone did anyway. i quickly dropped off val's toast in the apartment and went up the stairs. opening the door, i saw the city lights underneath me. i swung my feet over the side of the wall and took a deep breath. smiling as i began to see the sun peek over the mountains on the horizon. i sat there for a few moments just thinking. the soft pinks and blues illuminated the sky as the sun rose. i grabbed my bagel and unwrapped it, taking a bite and grabbing my phone in the other hand. i turned around and took a picture of myself in front of the sunrise, sending it to george.

good morning :)

i sent and put my phone back down, looking up to the sky. i finished my breakfast as the sun cane just above the horizon, around 7:30. stepping back into the concrete i wiped my hands together, brushing off all the crumbs and crumpling the tinfoil in my hand as i made my way to the door. i took out the brick i had used to prop it open and went down the stairs back to our apartment. when i opened the door, val was still asleep in her room as her breakfast was still on the table. i threw my keys onto the table and pulled off my shoes, making my way into the bathroom. i peeled off my mist covered clothes and got into the shower, letting the hot water rush over me. the droplets rolled on my back, leaving a warm path on its way down. i washed out my shampoo and closed my eyes, just thinking about anything and everything. a common theme being how much i missed my friends. as i was getting the conditioner, an idea popped into my head as i quickly washed it out and stepped out of the shower, putting on grey sweatpants and a t-shirt. i walked over to my phone on my nightstand and texted my group chat with val, bella, and eleanor.

i sent the text as i looked to the top of my screen.

y/n: EW I FORGOT THE GC WAS NAMED THAT. CHANGE IT. NOW.

i chuckled and rolled my eyes as i set my phone back down. i didn't expect them to answer for another hour or so since it was so early, so i decided to do some work on george and i's server. i logged on and spawned where we had our 'date' last night. i smiled as i walked through the hallways and out of the door, into the minecraft world we had grown to love. i spent the next hour or two finding a mine and building a railroad to get in and out of it, almost completely underground. my attention was brought away from the game as i heard val yell a simple "good morning" to me as she made her way to the kitchen. my phone buzzed and i turned it over, reading the notifications.

gooood morning. love the sunrise. wish i could see it. ;)

i laughed as i responded to him.

it was pretty i promise.

i clicked out of my messages with him to see the group text had responded.

i smiled as i began to text back, before i could finished bella sent another response.
