            It was ironic

It was ironic. The way life had fallen in love to death, devils had been smitten to angels, and the skins of sea had grown to adore the grains of land. In a world where difference matters it's impossible, if not destructive, almost parasitic on how two sides of a coin were selfish enough to be together.

But they were mortal, foolish, selfish mortals. They were two raw, blistered and bleeding hearts, in the middle of war for power. She was a deity birthed out of ambrosias, silk and honey, savored by Gaia to cover the realm with flowers. While he was a king who wielded a crown made of venoms, he ruled the realm of ground made of salt where nothing could grow. Tragically, they were made of the same stardust or whatever ethereal core the divine picked for them. They ignored the war and the danger of feelings. So, when they were coiled in forbidden kisses, and hid under the silky sheets—he poured poison to her mouth and she devoured the lethal liquid like a glass of nectar and mulled wine. When he touched her, his fangs shred the petals of her heart, he witnessed her core fragmented to dust. Only when he let go, he felt the maddening ache latched to his soul. So he pulled her closer and let her thorns stabbed his heart.

Now, who are you going to blame? Them, for being selfish teenagers? Or the bleaking war who forced them as star-crossed lovers?
