Chapter 4 - Dead Man Running

MacKenzie's POV

"The Monitor?" Cisco asks as we all sit in the lounge. "Where did you see him?" 

"We went in the Time Vault, right after putting Chester in the MAC." Barry says. "The Crisis that he spoke about last year, it's the same one in the plinth's newspaper. And it's not coming in 2024. It's coming December 10th..." He carefully looks at me. "2019."

"Are you sure about this?" Ralph asks

"The jackass lied to you." Frost says

"Yeah, well, we thought so, too, but... Barry went to Earth-3, and Jay Garrick helped him see that it was true." Iris says 

"How did he do that?" Cisco asks

"Jay projected my mind forward into the future." Barry says

"Okay. And what did you see?" Cisco asks

"I saw a giant wave of anti-matter sweeping over our Earth." Barry says. "Vaporized all of Central City and everybody in it. Including you four." He whispers

"Great. I'll go mark my calendar." Frost says, standing up

"We still have seven weeks to make sure none of this happens." Barry says

"Guys, Barry's right. We've changed the future before." Iris says. "We can change it again."

"So what else did our Asgardian cosplayer say?" Ralph asks as his phone goes off

"That was pretty much it." Barry says

"It's Joe." Ralph says, looking at his phone. "Needs me at CCPD, but that can wait. We... we need to get on this."

"Yeah, we should spend every minute we have on this." Cisco says

"No, guys, look, what we should do is take a well-deserved time-out and come back tomorrow with clear heads." Iris says

"Okay." Ralph says. "If you think so."

Ralph and Cisco leave

"What now?" Iris asks

Frost throws an ice shard into the wall

"Uh oh..." I whisper as Frost walks out of the lounge. I stand up from my seat before looking at Barry and Iris

"You should go check on her." Barry says

I walk out after Frost as Barry and Iris talk in whispers

"Hey, Frosty!" I exclaim, running down the hallway after her and she stops in the hallway

"What do you want, Quakey?" Frost asks

"Quakey?" I whisper before shaking my head. "Onto my point...what's wrong with you?"

"Nothing." Frost says before leaving

"Alright, sweetie." Iris says as me and her walk into her office in the morning. "You can sit at Kamilla's desk to do your school work if you want."

"Okay." I answer, pulling my backpack off and sitting down at the desk

"Morning, boss." Allegra says, walking in with a file. "I have got the mother of all scoops, and thanks to your new intern, it's gonna be a CCC Media exclusive."

"Actually, you know, I was hoping that you would help me with the new filing system." Iris tells her

"Alphabetical is great." Allegra tells her. "So there was a break-in at McCulloch Tech last night. Nothing was stolen, but you'll never guess who the perp is. Get this. Harrison Wells is alive." She says, handing her a picture
