Chapter 10 - License To Elongate

MacKenzie's POV

Ralph, Frost, Barry, Iris, Nash, and I are all down in the tunnels

"This is what I do." Nash says as we stand in front of a wall. "I don't just solve mysteries, I bust myths. I bust them wide open."

"You said you could save Barry." Iris says. "Tell us what you meant. The truth."

"Do you know what you're dealing with?" Nash asks. "The Monitor, Mar Novu, or whatever he calls himself."

"Are you saying the Monitor's here?" Barry questions

"That's right." Nash says

"You tracked a Multiverse god down to a hole?" Ralph asks

"And he's going to do here what he has done on all these other Earths -- create fear because the Monitor is a fraud." Nash states. "He's a false god. One that I intend to take down, thereby saving your husband. If my calculations are correct, behind these rocks there's an inter-dimensional portal, and that portal will lead us directly to Mar Novu."

"He's been here all along." Iris breathes

"He has nowhere to run." Barry says. "Back up." He says to which Iris takes a step back, pulling me back with her

"I don't know about that..." I say at the same time Nash says, "Yeah, uh, no. I wouldn't do that."

Barry speeds forwards and then bounces off the wall

"Barry!" Iris yells, running over to him on the ground. "Barry."

"Huh." I say, turning my head, taking a few steps forwards to the wall Barry just bounced off of. I touch the wall as the others talk

"Did you know that would happen?" Frost asks

"Yeah." Nash says

"Mack, how did you know that would happen?" Ralph asks

"I had a feeling." I tell him, touching my hand to the rocks with my back still to the group. I let out a small pulse of quakes as I feel the rocks. "These rocks they...they feel weird." I say, turning to look at Nash

"This is another one of Mar Novu's tricks." Nash says before looking at me. "These rocks are infused with Eternium, and that--"

"Creates an anti-vibrational force field that doesn't allow you to phase." I finish, looking back at the rocks

"How did you know that?" Iris asks

"I've been studying." I say, standing up and turning to the group, wiping my hands on my clothes

"School stuff?" Barry asks me

"Yeah no." I say

"You're supposed to be studying Spanish." Barry tells me

"We have more pressing matters." I say, gesturing to Nash. "How do we get through?"

"I've got a jackhammer in my car." Ralph suggests

"No." Nash and I say at the same time

"Any contact with the Eternium in this sediment could cause a catastrophic molecular blast." Nash says. "Everybody dies. No instead, all I need is an artifact. One that will illuminate the Eternium so I can know what rocks to dig around. Simple, and I'd know where to find that artifact."

Frost and I round the corner to the cortex upon hearing movement in the room. Sitting there in a chair is Chester who is looking at his obituary
