MacKenzie's POV

"Are you gonna be, like, mopey the whole time I'm here?" I question Ralph from my laying down position on the couch. He looks over at me and I lift my head to look at him. "My parents have me with you today to have some fun."

"You wanna know something, Mack-a-roni?" Ralph says. "Until the second you just talked...I forgot you were here."

"I've been here for 2 hours." I tell him, flopping my head back down on the couch

"We will have some fun soon." Ralph promises. "I just...I need to take some notes real quick." He says, grabbing a recorder. "Investigation into the disappearance of socialite Sue Dearbon. Day 274 since her parents first hired me to find her. Status update. Nothing."

"Not a thing!" I exclaim from the couch loud enough for the recording to hear

"Sue's trail went cold in Midway City after Remington Meister provided a dead end." Ralph continues on. "However, she was there. Meister confirmed that much."

"Hey, what are you still doing here..." Cecile questions, walking into the room before she sees the state of Ralph. "oh, seriously? Ralph. When I left last night, you were standing here staring at the exact same board, same as the night before. Honey, don't you think maybe it's time you got a little help? And a shower? Seriously, these fumes cannot be good for MacKenzie." She says, shooting a glance back at me

"Cecile, this is my process." Ralph tells her. "I work things out with the only person that can keep up with my beautiful detective mind. Me."

"You could work with me." Cecile tells him. "We took down the FEMA guy together, that was so great." Ralph's face twists. "You're not loving that, all right."

"Cecile, you know me. I-I like doing things my own way." Ralph tells her

"Ralph every Holmes needs a Watson." Cecile tells him as Ralph's computer dings

"Hang on." Ralph tells her, grabbing his computer and typing

"What is it?" Cecile asks

"So a couple months ago, I put up these alerts on Sue's bank accounts, trusts, and credit cards." Ralph says. "Apparently, she just made a small deposit on...an apartment in Central City. See? Told you. Only partner I need is this guy." He says, pointing to himself. "See you." He says, getting up and grabbing his coat

"Oh, wow, something definitely just died in here." Cecile says, covering her nose as I swing my backpack over one shoulder and follow Ralph out of the room

"I hope you're re-thinking that whole 'solo guy' thing." I call to him, following him out the door

"Sorry, Mack." Ralph tells me, getting to his car and opening the door. "I'll drop you off at home but I can't have you out in the field, not with a broken arm."

"We're not in the field." I tell him as he gets in his car. "Please, come on, I can help with detective work." I tell him, grabbing the door and holding it open. "I promise I'll stay out of the field."

"You know, this is feeling vaguely familiar." Ralph tells me. "You remember that? When your parents went away on vacation and left you with me? Yeah, I don't wanna relive that." He tells me, trying to pull his door closed again

"Please." I say, pushing the door open again. "You need me. I can work the problem without using my powers. I'll stay in the car or the house...I'll QB."

"I don't know..." Ralph says

"Please, Ralph." I tell him. "I am a metahuman...I may have a broken arm right now but I can still hold my own."
