Chapter 15 - Crisis on Infinite Earths: Hour Two

3rd Person POV

"You have all lost a great hero." Monitor says as Barry and Mack walk onto the waverider (a different earth's waverider) to join Kara, Clark, Lois (and her baby), Kate, and Mick Rory (from the different earth as the waverider). They're all standing across from Monitor and Lyla (Harbinger)

"The wrong hero." Barry says

"I do not disagree." Monitor tells him. "You have suffered a horrible loss, but you have every reason not to lose hope, 8, in fact. Across space and time–" Lois' baby starts crying. Lois passes the baby to Clark. "Across space and time exist 8 heroes, beings of the purest will who can ultimately–" The baby keeps crying

Monitor looks at Clark. "Sorry." Clark says. "You want to try?" He asks Kara, handing him over

"Beings of the purest will who can ultimately–" Monitor tries to continue but the baby keeps crying

"It's not working." Kara whispers, looking to Kate next to her

Kate crosses her arms over her chest. "Nope." She says as the baby continues to cry

Kara, reluctantly, sees that Mick is the last person to give the baby to in the line. She walks over, handing the baby over to him

"Beings of the purest will, who can ultimately defeat the Anti-Monitor." Monitor continues and the group realizes that the baby has stopped crying

"Go, go, go." Lois tells Mick who leaves with the baby

"And help save the multiverse." Monitor continues his speech. "They are known as Paragons."

"Paragons?" Barry questions. "And you're just dropping this on us now?"

"I only recently learned of their existence by consulting The Book of Destiny." Monitor says

"How?" Barry asks. "We destroyed it last year."

Monitor brings up a glowing almost holographic image of the Book of Destiny. "After Oliver's early demise, I went back into the time stream and retrieved it intact." He announces to the group. "It is now safely stored in this ship's library."

"So it's what, plan B?" Barry scoffs. "That's comforting."

"Anyone else wishing they'd done that shot?" Kate mutters under her breath

"Uh, but wait." Kara says as Mia and Ray walk into the room. "If the book can rewrite destiny, can it bring back Earth-38 or any of the other Earths?"

"Trying to re-create an entire world would surely drive one to madness." Monitor explains

"What about my dad?" Mia asks from the side. "Could it bring him back?"

"I wish it could." Monitor says. "While Oliver Queen was to die in this Crisis, this is not how I saw events unfold, but as the Anti-Monitor gets stronger, I grow weaker. We must find all 8 Paragons."

"How about, like, a hint?" Lois asks

"I have 5." Monitor says. "Kara Zor-El, despite all you have endured, you are the Paragon of Hope."

"Well, you might want to double-check your omnipotence because I'm not feeling that hopeful right now." Kara says in a sad tone

"Sara Lance is the Paragon of Destiny." Monitor announces

"Oh." Ray says. "Well, that makes sense. Captain of time travel and all that."

"I have only descriptions for two of the paragons." Monitor says. "One is of a second Kryptonian, who is said to have suffered a greater loss than most mortal men could endure. Today, he stands as the Paragon of Truth."
