I rolled my shoulders back. I'd just finished working on bars and for some reason, my shoulders hurt today more than normal. I'd been dismissing my soreness all week as random gymnast pain but at this point, I couldn't anymore. Not when it hurt to stretch my arms or my back.
"Nova, what are you doing?" My mom asked.
I grimaced, "My shoulder hurts"
"Are you sure?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, mom. I'm sure my shoulder hurts" I said, slightly annoyed she didn't believe me.
My mom sighed, "I guess this means you're pulling out of pac rims?"
I shook my head, "It's been bothering me all week. I highly doubt I'd be able to compete"
"Alright then. Drive home and tell your dad to bring you to the doctors" My mom said reluctantly.
"But-"
My mom raised an eyebrow. I nodded, walking over to my duffel bag to take off my grips. My dad and I hadn't exactly been talking since I found out the reason that my parents were divorcing.
I drove back home and walked inside the house. I went to my dad's office and knocked on his door.
"Nova" My dad said with a surprised tone, "You're home early"
I smiled awkwardly, "Mom told you to bring me to the doctors because my shoulders have really been bothering me"
My dad nodded, eager to spend time with me again, "Alright let's go now then"

I dropped my phone on my bed and flopped onto it. "So I guess my dad and I kinda made up? I don't know" I shrugged.
Shawn raised an eyebrow, "Really? How did that happen?"
"Oh... So I may or may not have two separated shoulders" I nodded.
"What?!" I could see Shawn sitting up over the facetime. "Are you okay?"
"Uhm" I pursed my lips, "I also have a fractured back"
"Holy shit, Nov. What happened?" Shawn asked.
"I don't really know how or when but... at least I have eight weeks off?" I raised my eyebrows.
