Love and death, Orion Mikaelson was no stranger to both, even from when she could barely talk, her family's ideal of love had been engrained to her brain, how family and love were always and forever. But then again, when talking about family, death has always come into the topic, started with her dead father, ended with her dead mother, and everyone killed in between. Her family has suffered enough from the promise of always and forever, but when the idea of love has always been nothing but, there was nothing that she could do but hang on to the promise itself.
On the other hand, love was a strange concept for Draco Malfoy. The idea of love has never even come across his mind, after all, how do you even define love? Was it the affection that's shown by parents to their children? Was it an attraction that you feel to someone based on a sexual desire? Love for him has always been a puzzle that he had no desire to solve. Not when he spent his whole life thinking that whatever the hell it was that his parents gave to him wasn't love, there was no way that was love, he refused to believe that it was love. Yet, he never dared to question it, not when it was all he knows in his entire life; not when it made perfect sense; you see, Draco Malfoy relied everything on logic, and the concept of love was everything but.
But then again, maybe it was easier to believe that there is no such thing as love.
Maybe it was easier to believe that love does not exist, rather than thinking:
If there really is a thing called love, then why does love elude them?
